Sample achievements from Left 4 Dead.

Achievements are a popular feature of many modern videogames, used commonly in Xbox/Windows LIVE games and many releases on Valve's Steam platform. They are awarded to a player's online account and signify that the player has managed to satisfy some set of conditions associated with the achievement, ranging from the mundane and simple (for example, "Finish Act 1 on Casual", from Gears of War) - to the truly bizarre ("Launch the garden gnome into space", Half-Life 2: Episode 2). The achievements often come with amusing names or conditions to fulfil - for example, Left 4 Dead's achievement for setting a large number of the infected enemy on fire is "101 Cremations".

It has become a pastime for many fa/tg/uys to design new achievements for tabletop RPGs, ranging from those general to the hobby to achievements specific to individual games (or even individual classes or character types within those games), often differentiating between achievements for GMs and PCs. Assuming the poster in question has a good sense of humour, they tend to be rather amusing.

Thus follows a list of achievements. It is probably incomplete and those with time should trawl the archives and add the contents of achievement threads found therein. Please don't come up with and add stuff directly to these articles; that's somewhat missing the point, and it should be filtered through /tg/ first.
