Mechanics

Detain

Blue and White are the colors most inclined to be in a control deck (and are also the 2 most control freak color philosophy wise). As such detain is naturally a control-ish mechanic. Detained permanents are unable to attack or block and can't use their activated abilities. A detainment lasts until the detainer's next turn. Detain was initially based off tapping a creature, but they decided to make it more like the card Arrest. The duration of 'till your next turn' was chosen because it was short enough to remember but long enough to matter.
