Background
A young woman in Gem is told to go stop an angry riot before violence breaks out, on behalf of a rich merchant family. Rather than carrying herself with the expected grace and eloquence, she merely stumbles over her words, insulting many groups, and causing mass fighting to break out. Forced to flee, she is suddenly approached by a demon: a Chrysogonae, one of the Crying Women. There, she was offered the greatest power: To know and control the desires of others, and take from them everything they would be made willing to give. That the people would silence themselves before her will, and do as was asked - nay, what was expected of them. And all just for a teeny, tiny favor...
