The Skirmish level is one of several combat levels frequently used in wargames. This level of game typically deals with the actions of a squad or party of characters. It often has the most detailed combat systems of any of them, and may incorporate role-playing elements as well. Games Workshop has been a major force in this niche, creating at least one, and often 2-3, games as spin-offs of their major properties.
