METAL refers to aspects of RPG, or its artwork, featuring in the best 1970s Metal Hurlant French tradition.

Here we expect spiky, bloodstained armor; swords far too large for any reasonable biped to swing; towers made of prisoners chained together; and Coenobites from the Order of the Gash.
