The Gecko is the first SAM system in the world to combine its air defense missiles and its radar systems onto one vehicle.Surprisingly the vehilce and the missile system were first designed for the Russian Navy. The SA8 Gecko was first deployed on the Slava class cruiser. Hilariously enough the Russians only made this in response to the US Mauler unit. The Gecko is unarmored and meant to service with motorized infantry units.
