Setting talk:Dungeons & Monstergirls

Where to start... I like Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, I like monstergirls, and I think the two would go together like peanut butter and chocolate. After confirming on /tg/ that this sort of idea is properly /tg/ related, I started this project up here, since I'm unsure of how long it'll last on threads alone (the /tg/ thread near-immediately started talking about the need to add monsterboys to the setting too). I've never really gone on with something like this, especially on the crunch, so I was hoping anons would be willing to help here.

Also, yes, I do have an attendant bit of fiction tied into this setting, involving a human adventurer and his four MG partners - all ladies his busy-body mother has set him up with because she wants grandkids - but I haven't written it yet. And I don't know if it'd be welcome on /tg/ anyway since it features characters like a curvy, teasing, flirty half-orc Paladin of the Ancients and a catgirl Arcane Trickster Rogue who can be summed up as "a catgirl version of the Dragon's Crown's Sorceress, visually, complete with Tits o' Holding(tm)".QuietBrowser (talk) 23:26, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Harpy Drafting

Well, responding to the request for harpy feedback, why not have the "normal" harpy use the aarokocra profile, and give the one with spell-like abilities a much slower fly speed? Say... 30 ft.? Maybe even slower? --SpectralTime (talk) 11:43, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

Hmm... that's possible. Looking at the harpy's entry in the MM, it actually only has walk 20ft and fly 40ft for movement options. Not quite sure how to write that up as a sub-race format ala the dwarves/elves...QuietBrowser (talk) 17:53, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

First, specify what they share: in this case, I would say, a 40 ft. fly speed, a 20 ft. move speed, and +2 Dex. Then, set up subraces: the... Strongwing? harpy, which has +1 Con (Wis might be a stretch if they're supposed to be bird-brains), an additional 20 ft. of speed while flying, and unarmed strikes that deal 1d4 + Dex damage and can be used as a bonus action, and the Siren harpy, with +1 Cha and spellcasting using its Cha. Hmm... well, looking at the Aaracockra, it gets +2 Dex, +1 Wis, Walk 25, Fly 50 (no medium or heavy armor), and talons. So, with some tweaks, that Strongwing/Siren split sounds like it could work. Thanks for the opinions.QuietBrowser (talk) 23:16, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

Drafts/Expansions

So, what do folks think of the crunch/fluff drafts here so far? And any suggestions on where to continue from this? Should I start with refluffing all of the 5e races first, try and do some "iconic" monstergirls crunch first, fluff the MGs I've crunched for, or just mix and match as I feel like?QuietBrowser (talk) 23:26, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

The breeding issue

Wouldn't the fact that humans can interbreed with monstergirls cause massive upheavals within the monstergirl societies? For generations they reproduced in their own unique ways, and then these alien dudes come along who can reproduce just by sticking part of themselves inside someone else and wiggling it around a bit. This would be a massive upheaval of everything the monstergirls thought they knew about themselves, their beliefs and traditions. Even if this does not result in a massive race war against the humans, it's something that should be considered to have an impact on their societies, even if snu snu remains the primary focus. - Biggus Berrus (talk) 23:02, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

Continued Expansion and Help

This shit is gold and completely orphaned. I'm expanding the fluff and also trying to address logical problems and some issues brought up here and (if I can find it) the thread. I'm absolute shit at homebrewing, so I'd probably end up just copypastaing 5e race profiles into the Monstergirl races, which would be very lame. Thus, please provide crunch if that's your thing.
