Talk:Scrollhammer
Rules finished.
Patch: Hand Weapon + Shield grants 6+ Ward save(or +1 to existing Ward Save) while in close combat, rather than +1 Armor Save
Patch: If there are multiple movement speeds in a unit, the different models may move at different speeds, as long as they remain in coherency. Blessing of the Shadow clarified.
Note: Ward Saves were always instead of the armor save, not alongside the armor save.
Patch: Clarified combat stuff I omitted by accident.
Complaint: What is with the shit bonuses for Redguards? They only get a bonus to charging for the first few turns? That's shit. It's so shit. They're regarded as the best individual warriors in Tamriel in the fluff, they were able to fight the Thalmor to a standstill separately from the Empire. Their abilities should reflect that more than just a piddly bonus to charging.
What would you suggest? -Lolpwnt
Retooling Adrenaline Rush into an activated ability, similar to the Orc's Frenzy, might work. Still curious what this anon might add. -Duke
Question: I noticed that there are no rules for staves in the Weapons and Armor list. How exactly do they work? Would i be correct in assuming that their basically just an ordinary Hand Weapon that takes up two hands?
A quarterstaff(for melee combat) is something I don't have in there right now. Maybe a 2-handed melee weapon that grants +1 Strength, and some bonus involving weapon skill? I suppose it would be important maybe for martial artists in the Elsweyr codex. Magic staves are able to be equipped, one per hand, simultaneously with magic being cast from those hands. So if you cast fireball, you can also have a staff out that turn to give the spell a bonus or to channel another spell. If that makes sense. -Lolpwnt
Quesition:When is the Aldmeri Dominion going to get it's codex? is anyone working on it? if not I encourage someone to get on it and I might be able to do ground work before hand-Valergain.
I almost decided to work on them instead of Kingdoms of High Rock, before deciding there just wasn't enough fluff to easily make an army list. There's a good chance that I'm just not up-to-date with the Summerset Isles fluff. Might be good to scrap what I've done with them and start fresh. Here's some of my idle thoughts on them though- User:FatherDuke/Aldmeri_sandbox If you like, you could also use this page for brainstorming or laying out ideas. --FatherDuke 01:35, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
Actually, nevermind. I'll just put this here so we have some sort of check list. These are the Army lists that have been discussed so far: --Dagoth Guy 23:15, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

What are Horse People of Bjoulsae?
Sorry I haven't been on, I've had lots of schoolwork, learning to code computers and stuff. I've also been focusing on my 40k league now that Tyranids are, strangely enough, quite playable in the current meta. But I want to ask a couple questions, just on our general policy:
1. How much new lore should we allow? We should obviously only go for things as far as they can fit flawlessly into what already exists, but where do we draw the line? A lot of factions don't have very many special characters worth of note in Bethesda's existing lore.
2. How will we deal with Elder Scrolls Online, and its absurdities(mortal enemies allying, Orsinium being a province, Elder Scrolls granting buffs to those that control them, etc.)?
3. Should we get a forum for this? Chapter Master already has a small forum. If we had a forum too, we could be able to reliably communicate ideas without having to use wiki discussion pages or make threads on /tg/ hoping other devs are on. Who knows, it might be able to draw people in.
Also, faction design. We don't want every faction to turn out the same. A lot of magic and stuff is shared, but there's a lot of differences in playstyle too. But should we try to give some factions a truly unique feel? Like Eldar are the "Specialist Faction," Warriors of Chaos are the uber melee infantry faction, etc.? Since the Daedra army book seriously needs an update anyway, due to the weirdness of it being the first set of rules for the game, and the lack of Hermaeus Mora stuff, I wonder if I could make them completely weird compared to everything else. It would make perfect sense for them to be that way.
Of course, I guess we already have a few things like that, Dragons seems pretty unique imo, I'm trying to make Falmer that way too. It's clear that Valenwood will be shooty and Aldmeri Dominion will have tons of spellcasters. But anything else you think might be cool?
Just thoughts for you guys to consider. --Lolpwnt 07:10, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
- Happy to hear from you! And no worries- life takes precedence over stuff like this.
- 1. I'd almost say to draw the lines at named characters- so long as some guy/gal is mentioned, even in a single sentence, it's probably alright for us to fudge some details. When this isn't the case players can feel free to make their own, using the provided rules, and/or some houseruling? I dunno.
- 2. In the rare occurrence that we see something and say 'Hey, that's actually kind of neat', it might be fine to include it. MIGHT BE.
- 3. I'd certainly be willing to slap a theme/layout together, were this to happen.
- 4. Kind of hard to say, when the actual armed forces of the different provinces aren't really laid out in concrete. There should naturally be some kind of theme between lists, game-play wise, but I'm not sure how we could take that to a new level compared to what we are doing now. (I imagine the Nords will play very different to the legion, who play very different to House Dagoth, etc.) --FatherDuke 09:55, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
Sup.
- Horse People of Bjoulsae are a rarely mentioned faction that makes up the smallest of the three enthic groups of the Bretons, the other two being the Witchmen of The Reach and the Kingdoms of High Rock. They're a nomadic people that mostly spend their time hanging out on the plains around the Bjoulsae River and avoiding most of civilization. They're basically the Mongols, if the Mongols were Hispano-Celtics. All cavalry, all the time.
- We can extrapolate on things that we know to exist, but we shouldn't just arbitrarily make shit up.
- In the same way that we deal with tESIV Oblivion: Ignore it for the most part but cherry pick anything useful or interesting
- I dunno. If you think it would help, then by all means go ahead.
- Some parts of some factions are definately going to feel very similar, but we should try to make each one as unique as we can. They should all at the very least play differently.
--Dagoth Guy 18:25, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
Oh cool. A serious cavalry army is another thing that this game needs.
And about the special characters, I think I'll just go with extrapolating on lore that already exists, rather than making stuff up. After all, if a player wants to make their own characters and lore, there are huge customization options in Scrollhammer regardless of army. --Lolpwnt 20:25, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
I've done some quick searching for tokens that might be used for Scrollhammer. Not too much seems to fit the bill, but I've slapped together a decent amount of them for Great Houses of Morrowind and the Imperial Legion. If other people would like to contribute, throw a compressed folder at me with some fitting tokens, then we can piece together a more all-encompassing zip file. As a side-note it seems pretty simple to change the hue/replace colors to make particular character tokens match Dunmer or whatever. --FatherDuke 01:01, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
- Edit: Added some more tokens. Contains enough to run quite a few Morrowind, Undead/Dragon, Imperial Legion, and Nord lists online. zip - --FatherDuke 06:55, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
On a completely different note, I've been noticing more then just a tiny interest in Scrollhammer. For or five different folks have mentioned they've written lists, and we frequently get others asking in about progress, or even if there's ways to play it. It may be a good idea to actually create a forum for this game- if only to have a means to orchestrate online games, and allow open talks about progress and ideas. I've had my fair share of squicky forum experiences but it may help garner interest and playtesting. More food for thought. --FatherDuke (talk) 03:53, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Dwemer[edit]
Given the nature of the Elder Scrolls Universe, and the number of times the Dwemer clashed with pretty much everybody before they disappeared, and given that Scrollhammer is based on smaller skirmishes, rather than outright epic slugging matches between hundred of miniatures, would it be possible to throw in a Dwemer faction? Wouldn't have to break any of the mystery, just have an army supplemented by animunculi, and a couple of actual dwemer household troops. Just to expand on it a little, and to get house Dagoth to fight their ancestral foe.
what manufacturer would you use?[edit]
want to test this out but was wondering, what models are you guys using for the armies of scroll hammer?
- Here's a compilation/list of models by Lolpwnt/anons that could be suitable for Scrollhammer. Keep in mind your best bet for more classic TES creatures, like Daedra or Sixth House dudes, are probably 3d printing or paper cutouts. If you're feeling up for a more tactical version that requires less models you may wish to give Scrollhammer 2E a look. Enjoy. --FatherDuke (talk) 03:08, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
Any interest in conceptualising the argonian list? -Anon, 12:39 am 16/12/15 GMT
