Hektor Heresy Stuff
Hello! I am the writer for several pieces in the /tg/ Heresy project. Would you care to join in general contact with the rest of the community at large so we can hear your opinions and such?
- Not sure how necessary that is. Thanks for the info, but most everything I've done thus far has been rules based, and if people have questions, comments, or concerns, they can hit up my User Talk page. I don't really have any commentary or insight into the current Hektor Heresy lore, so I'm not sure what I'd add. If you have specific requests to write up specific legion/primarch rules, or concepts for another Primarch and Legion, you can all reach me here. Otherwise, I'm not sure what there is to be gained from doing so, unless you're aware of something I'm not. Josman (talk) 17:38, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
Alright, thanks for the heads up. To be honest I'm glad to have an excuse to hold off on Uriel for a bit, because there's only so many ways you can do the "master of propaganda" thing, and I worry anything I come up with now would be too similar to Lumey's rules. Just out of curiosity, why the pressure on him to change it? Josman (talk) 17:04, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- My bad on that. I've been signing my shit, just spaced on that one. Yesterday was a rough day. But we have been discussing your statline options, and were wondering if you cared to join in our skype chat? I saw you had been sent contact info for one of the guys in the group, so if you're interested, he'll be more than happy to hook you up with the required info. --Merrill (talk) 22:44, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
- Tell you the same thing I told him: I'm not averse to the idea, I just don't see much point. I don't really have anything to say as far as story or characters go, I'm just making rules. If people have questions, commentaries, that kind of thing, they can always post it here. I'll probably be done with the rest of the rules pretty soon. Just finished with Onyx and Pallas + Bodyguards, and I'm starting on Merrill as soon as I get all the other primarchs rebalanced to fit my new system (I have the approximate method I'm using recorded on my User Page now, if you're curious). Still, suppose it couldn't hurt to show up for at least one. How often do you guys typically do these things? Josman (talk) 23:16, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
- Intermittently, unfortunately. With people in about 4 time zones and everyone having school, work, or both, we don't get the ability to really schedule discussions. But every so often we do all manage to show up at the same time. And in all actuality, your work here has done a lot to reinvigorate a lot of the groups' interest.
- As far as Merrill goes, I had some rules printed up for him a while ago. Most of what I remember was insanely high WS, he was kinda fragile, Stealth, Shrouded, and put together an improvement on Move Through Cover. Ideally, my thoughts were for him to be designed around giving mild buffs to the army towards Stealth, Infiltration, and Deep Strike. As far as combat goes, I tried to make him incredibly powerful in the first turn of an assault, but his effectiveness dropped sharply after that. Merrill (talk) 12:05, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- I will let you know if/when it happens. In the meantime, I love the rules you put out. I added a couple things in there, and upped his price a bit. I figure for how (comparatively) squishy he is, it was a fair trade, and some of what I put up was from previous iterations. Not sure if I upped the price properly, as most of the stuff I added were things that were either there, but in a limited sense, or weren't discussed much on your page. Merrill (talk) 03:10, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- Actually, as he is now, he's probably worth closer to 530 or 540. I already mixed in a lot of cost saving measures, and your new changes take him a big over the top. Keep in mind that as he sits now, he's a meaner duelist than Fulgrim, he's as stealthy and as fast as Corax, he charges like Angron, and he has more potential synergy than any of them. Point for point, as he sits he's really inefficient but still worth more than Roman, Hektor, or freaking Horus. Next time I have some spare time I'll see if I can find a balanced way to tone back his points cost but still keep true to the spirit of the character. Josman (talk) 04:21, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah. On a good turn (or bad one, depending on perspective) he could be taken out by a lone rifleman dread. How about getting rid of that rifle? It would reduce the points cost a bit while changing his dynamic. It would force the player to charge with him instead of letting him sit on an objective with a 2+ cover save while deterring your opponent's charge (because you're still dealing with 6 S6 AP2 attacks at I7) and acting as a homing beacon. On an unrelated note, the spear was originally named "The Imperial Talon." I don't know why it didn't make this cut of his page, but it didn't. That being said, you came up with a much, much better name. Merrill (talk) 12:10, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- Made some tweaks. Brought his price way down without totally clipping his wings. Also, let me know if you guys decide you're replacing Camaxtli and your other guy doesn't come through. I've got really bored last night when I couldn't sleep and wrote up a new legion and primarch based on a cross between American exceptionalism/military industrial complex and british style colonialism, Freedom and Firepower baby. Falls to chaos, naturally. Josman (talk) 21:49, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
Just wanted to point out something for Johannes Vrach: RAW for his armor has the same ambiguity as Horus's Serpent Scale: wounds dealt also count as negative modifiers, which gives him a second 3++ on top of FNP and his invuln. --Boss Ballkrusha (talk) 19:55, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
