Background[edit]

Born in Nexus, the son of of a Guild merchant from the night he spent in one of the more high scale brothels in the city, Steel grew up in the realities of the street life. The Brothel took care of him, but made sure that he didn't interfere with their business. He moved from the life of a typical street urchin lucky enough to maybe have a roof over his head some nights to someone who sold information in his teenage years. After years of the business, Steel has contacts with the Guild and the urchins and outlaws. He still knows many of the brothel that he was born at.

Years into his working, the Guild payed him to find where the man that is interfering with their business is living so they could end his business methods. After months, Steel still couldn't find the man. He got lucky though, one day he spent the night in the brothel where he was born, and spent a little too much time talking. The Madame told him, and Steel passed it on to the Guild.

Days later, Steel found that instead of the businessman getting taken out of business, the entire family was killed to completely remove them. From then on, Steel was much more careful about who found out the information he knew or found out. He was especially careful on what he told the Guild. It was a hard lesson about how the wrong information being known by the wrong people could lead to the death of those that didn't really have much to do with anything.

Eventually, Steel is constantly hired by the same out of city merchant every few months as he brings in his own shipments of product. Mostly, its to find the people that would be willing to pay more to buy what he is being sold. Four months out of every year that's what he ends up doing, changing the type of information he looks for, as well as the way he asks questions. He has to spend as much time finding out what the people are actually like as well as what they want to hide. For two years this happens.

Eventually, he exalts as a Chosen of Secrets, and find that the one he's been doing work for for the past two years is actually a Sidereal himself. Steel is taken to Yu-Shan where he is formally trained and goes back to work for the Division of Secrets.

22 AB - Has developed contacts in Guild, and general street urchins and outlaws
24 AB - Sells information to Guild on someone encroaching on their business. Guild 'removes' entire family from picture instead of just the businessman
25 AB - Contracted by Sidereals, works as a mortal agent in Nexus, though no clue who they actually are and what he is actually doing
27 AB - Exalts as a Chosen of Secrets
28 AB - Present day

Steel is rather pragmatic in his dressing. He prefers to dress fancily and will be seen more often in a shirt, pants, and coat instead of a fancy suit of clothing. The grey eyes can look light blue if seen in the right light, the light brown hair is cut short. He also tends to be noticeably more comfortable in the presence of the lower and middle classes, but can still hold his own with the upper classes. Loves drinking. White wine is god.
