Background[edit]
Seriliss is a native to Gem, a young retainer in House Sahlak. Her duties were simple, tracking the sales, managing the ledgers of a few small time brothels, making sales, managing small-time relations with the Lap, ommiting or altering the right numbers to please higher-ups. After all, that was part of business. If she occasionally scraped a bit of jade off the top, or pocketed a little bit of the recent opium shipments for herself, or "perused merchandise" while conveniently forgetting to record it in the ledgers - well, that was a normal fact of business too.
Business, as it were, continues as usual - until a misplaced number causes mass chaos. Two small factions of the House had started a riot, something over a misplaced talent or other petty nonsense. Seriliss, with her silver tongue and polite mannerisms, is sent to resolve the matter. However, rather than carrying herself with the expected grace and eloquence, she merely stumbles over her words, insulting many groups, and causing mass fighting to break out. Forced to flee, she is suddenly approached by a demon: a Chrysogonae, one of the Crying Women. There, she was offered the greatest power: To know and control the desires of others, and take from them everything they would be made willing to give. That the people would silence themselves before her will, and do as was asked - nay, what was expected of them. And all just for a teeny, tiny favor...
Seriliss walked down the procession, eyeing the various adoring denizens of Malfeas, her every move laced with a poise and grace she would never have possessed as a pathetic mortal.. It was nice to have fans, for once. People who would listen to her. After all, it was just like the Dragon had instructed her: she was the one who could fulfill their needs and desires. For this purpose alone, did the masses of the world not owe themselves to her? Did she not deserve to rule, clearly possessing the ability to fulfill the needs of others, something that the impotent noble houses and so-called 'rulers' of Creation obviously lacked?
After this, Seriliss would be assigned to a project in the South. Supposedly, there would be co-workers involved. That was fine. She could work on a team. And besides, she was curious to see how those poor little Gem mortals would react if they saw her new self..
Coadjutor: Seriliss's coadjutor is, on one hand, a sociable, playful, and clever Chrysogonae with a keen head for blatant lying and manipulation. On the other, it does an utterly deplorable job of sympathizing or caring for anyone else outside of regard for her (now their) own needs. While the two of them get along and work together well-enough as a team, they often have different opinions of just what to do with people Seriliss can manage to wrap around her finger..
Appearance[edit]
The Infernal exaltation has greatly morphed Seriliss from her original self, both in body and mind. Her muddied complexion has become a smooth, clear brown, like delicious dark chocolate. Once slender and stiff, her figure and posture have taken on a carefully-sculpted, curvaceous look, each step carrying her with a distinguished sway. A loosely-flowing skirt of midnight black silk inlaid with brass lining wraps around her hips, and what little comprises her top coverage is a pair of thin strips of similarly-designed silk-and-brass material that cling to her chest, completing her completely impractical attire. This is in no small thanks to the fact that the Ebon Dragon is a pimp like that. Her long, ebon hair falls down her back and over her shoulders, seeming to occasionally twist and weave of its own accord. Aside from this, her body is clad in a plethora of brass jewelry: bracelets, chokers, circlets, and rings meticulously placed to enhance her image and supplement her form.
However, at least it's not Skeletits.

Charms[edit]
- (Ebon Dragon) First ED Excellency (Ess 1): Enhances actions that are selfish, immoral, thwart the dreams of others, et cetera. (P. 107). If confined or restrained (literally or metaphorically), the user may only use that charm to find an immediate and direct way to escape that restraint. The charm cannot be used for acts of honesty, unless the truth is horrid and would debase/horrify/disturb/etc the listener. All actions with the charm must otherwise show dishonesty or guile.
- (Ebon Dragon) Shadow Spite Curse (Ess 1): Upon witnessing a character perform a valid action within Essence x 100 yards, user may spend 3m per -1 external penalty to that action. Normally cannot exceed Essence, but a user demonstrating a stunt with this charm that emphasizes the targets failure may add the stunt bonus to its maximum.
- (Ebon Dragon) Witness to Darkness (Ess 2): Permanent. User gains the ability to see through darkness and ignores all penalties imposed by it, but imposes a -1 penalty to non reflexive actions in direct sunlight. Users may invoke it as a perfect defense against blindness, but doing so causes Primordial essence to leak from her eyes and makes the charm Obvious. Lastly, the user adds her Essence to MDV against Manipulation-based attacks and as bonus successes to recognize or pierce deception - but suffers an internal penalty in her permanent Essence when attempting to make Charisma-based attacks.
- (Ebon Dragon) Nemesis Self Imagined Anew (Ess 2): Simple, Indefinite, Shaping. Cost: 1m. User chooses a living target within (Essence) yards, and her Motivation becomes a twisted antithesis to their own, as well as knowing the target's Motivation. They also gain an Intimacy of seething hatred toward that target. If they witness a social attack by the charm's target that is aided or inhibited by one of their Intimacies, the user is aware of this, but does not know the intimacy. For one mote, spent reflexively however, they may learn it, and gain another Intimacy contradictory to it.
- (Ebon Dragon) Soul Crack Exploitation (Ess 2): Supplemental, Cost: 1m. Enhances attempts at mental influence upon the person mirrored with Nemesis Self, reducing the TN of attacks that prey on their Intimacy to 6, the TN of attacks that prey on their Motivation to 5, and the TN of attacks that attack a Motivation through an Intimacy are reduced to TN 4 and reduce the target's MDV by half, rounded down. This charm may be purchased twice by Ess 3+ characters, allowing attacks to benefit as if they were preying on an Intimacy or Motivation if they would normally be resisted by them, and the victim must still spend a Willpower to resist the effects.
- (Ebon Dragon) Puissance Mimicry Intuition (1) (Ess 3): Simple, Shaping, Stackable, Combo-OK, Cost: 3m. Duration: Until Calibration. The Infernal assesses which Abilities her Nemesis Self target has higher than her own, and may purchase one additional, temporary dot in that Ability with this charm, up to their normal maximum. Raising these traits with XP uses the cost of the base rating in that Ability, but skips training times. Second Purchase: User may also use this charm to read and gain Attributes (6m/dot) and Willpoewr (5m/dot). Third Purchase: User may use this charm to learn Charms when a target is seen activating them within (ess x 5) yards at 6m each, so long as they are Obvious. (Out of Type charms cost 7 motes, and are only accessible to Fiends before Essence 5+.)
- (Ebon Dragon) Cracked Cell Circumvention (Ess 2): Reflexive, Step 1 or 2, doubles the successes of any action to escape physical confinement, or doubles a static value. If used to resist a clinch, it breaks the clinch immediately.
- (Ebon Dragon) Bloodless Murk Evasion (Ess 3): Reflexive, Step 2, Combo-OK, Obvious, Shaping. Perfect dodge against any perceived attack, even undodgables by turning into shadow, and allows movement to anywhere from within (Temporary Willpower left) yards. Fails against Holy attacks.
- (Ebon Dragon) Life-Blighting Emptiness Attack (Ess 2): Supplemental, Obvious. Cost: 3m, enhances any ranged attack. Living beings hit by the attack suffer the user's Willpower in piercing damage dice, restoring one mote to the user for each successful level of damage inflicted.
- (Ebon Dragon) Seeing is Blindness (Ess 2): Supplemental, Combo-Ok, Shaping, Sorcerous. Cost: 3m. User enhances any physical attack, rolling (Manipulation+Presence.) Any target struck by that attack with a (Higher of Perception or Awareness) than the successes rolled becomes blinded for the entire scene. At Ess 4+, this becomes a Desecration effect, bestowing the Creature of Darkness deformity and Blindness debility.
- (Ebon Dragon) Loom Snarling Deception (Ess 2): 5m, Simple, Combo-OK, Illusion, Shaping. Indefinite. User creates a perfect disguise of a fictional individual of their imagining. The disguise is impenetrable save for by appropriate charms following standard roll-off rules, adding the Infernal's (Essence) to the roll. Using this charm also creates a false fate in the Loom as a Shaping effect, which can contain anything the user desires, as well as putting them inside Fate.
- (Ebon Dragon) Eldritch Secrets Mastery (Ess 3): Permanent, Illusion. Changes user's magical traits to read off as whatever they want to be, such as Essence (rating and type), anima, caste, et cetera.
- (Ebon Dragon) Selfishness Is Power (1) (Ess 3): 1m, Simple, C-OK, Shaping, Lasts one day. The user enhances her ego, automatically able to judge whether any action will result in personal benefit, provided that conclusion can be reached within a threshold of 5 with any Ability. Acting in deliberately in favor of oneself at the expense of others adds +1 to stunt ratings while this charm is active, but counts the user as a CoD for the duration of the effect if they are not already. Taking actions that grant more benefit to others than oneself draings three motes, while actions that help others without personal reward drain 10 motes. This charm cannot be prematurely deactivated.
- (Ebon Dragon) Fate-Rending Desperation (Ess 3): Reflexive, Combo-OK, Sorcerous. 5m, 1WP. Reduces the TN of all attribute/ability rolls by 1 for the duration of a scene, but increases TNs by 1 for the next 24 hours after the scene has passed. Does not count as a Blasphemy, but registers as Obvious to all Sids and gods of the Bureau of Divinity.
- (Ebon Dragon) Black Mirror Shintai (Ess 4): 5m, 1WP, Simple, Shaping, Sorcerous, Scenelong. User steals the shadow of a target set as a Nemesis Self, using it to form a Chrysalis that transforms the character into an exact copy of that target when her DV next refreshes. User gains all internal traits of that target, such as Abilities, Attributes, Virtues, and backgrounds that are strictly internal (Breeding, Whispers, et al), the panoply of a demon or god, et cetera. This copying remains up-to-date when that target experiences any change in traits. User is still a Creature of Darkness, but otherwise acts as the Exalt/Supernatural type of the target. DB copies may use reflexives at will, Sid copies may use astrology, et al. Temporary traits (eg motes, WP) remain as they are, but the pool size for them is adjusted. Character perfectly succeeds at any attempt to impersonate the target, including his Fate. This transformation lasts up to a day by default, but may be released reflexively. Either way, when the form is dropped, all ongoing magical effects instantly terminate, as do impossible states (e.g. being sorcerously bound as a demon.)
- (Cecelyne) Transcendent Desert Creatue (Ess 2): Permanent. Gives a ton of benefits in places of desolation.
- (Cecelyne) First Cecelyne Excellency (Ess 2): Enhances actions that are patient and deliberate, place the strong over the weak, arbitrary hypocrisy, insightful into desires and failures, fulfills wishes to own others, etc.
- (Cecelyne) Cecelyne Inevitability Technique (Ess 3): User may pay 1WP to reduce the TN of rolls enhanced by 1st Cecelyne to 6.
- (Cecelyne) Verdant Emptiness Endowment (Ess 2): 10m, 1WP, Simple, Shaping, Sorcerous, Training. In response to hearing someone openly express a desire for betterment that could be solved by raising an Attribute, Ability, or Specialty, the user may activate this Charm, raising the desired trait by one dot, costing XP as normal. Subjects may unconsciously reject these gifts for 1WP, but the effect is not Obvious, so they are only aware of the XP cost and the trait being offered, and are not aware of the other costs involved. Afterwards, at any point in the future, the user may approach that individual and demand they do one task. Victims are aware that not fulfilling such tasks (should they be comprehensible and not impossible) creates a sense of impending doom, and must satisfy the order for 1 month or until it is complete. Stopping from completing the assigned order causes a number of automatic botches equal to the Infernal's Essence rating, as per the consequences for breaking Eclipse/Fiend/Etc caste oaths.
- (Cecelyne) Hellscry Chakra (ess 2): 5m, C-OK, Simple, Indef. User perceives all dematerialized demons with all senses, and knows they are incorporeal, adds (Essence) to track, find, or pierce disguises of natives to Malfeas (and may spend 1WP to automatically succeed against mundane attempts), makes the nature of a Yozi or Demon present Obvious (giving a basic synopsis of motivation and abilities), and automatically recognizes non-demonic natives of Malfeas.
- (Cecelyne) Demonic Primacy of Essence (Ess 2): Permanent, Servitude, Social. If the user has a higher (Essence) rating than a target malfean native, then said demon suffers a -(Difference in Essence) penalty to its MDV and count as UMI. Likewise, however, the user suffers the same penalty against higher Essence natives; however, natural influence remains natural. The penalties from this charm do not stack if both subjects are holders of it.
- (Cecelyne) Bestowal of Accursed Fortune (Ess 3): Enhances Verdant Emptiness Endowment to bestow material Backgrounds; these Backgrounds take (New Rating) weeks to appear and appear through coincidence or circumstance. The target owes nothing until they are received.
- (Cecelyne) Untouchable Infinitude Reflection (Ess 2): 4m, 1WP, C-OK, Scenelong. Whenever the user spends willpower to resist mental influence, the Infernal's DV increases by 2. Fails against users with an Essence rating of 2 or higher than the user.
- (Cecelyne) Counter-Pronouncement of Enthymemic Law (Ess 3): 5m, C-OK, Servitude. User perfectly counters a Shaping attack or Mental Influence by pronouncing an arbitrary law of Malfeas that contradicts it. (Users need not draw attention to its origin, but cannot misattribute it to another government.) The user and all first-circle demons nearby must spend 1WP or instantly develop a new intimacy toward that law as a Servitude effect.
- (Performance) Irresistible Succubus Style: 10m, 1WP, Simple, C-OK, Emotion, Mirror, Obvious, Social. User makes a (Cha/Manip+Performance) attack, adding (Appearance) in dice. Affected targets are stricken with an intimacy of lust toward the user as a form of commitment, costing 2WP to resist and 1WP per scene to resist and break once the commitment sets in. Seduction attempts on victims with lower Essence ratings in the same scene become UMI costing 3 WP to resist.
