  • This page is gonna get unwieldy if we just start adding 7th edition tactics for everything and leaving behind the 6th edition tactics... should there be a clean-up of page titles, I mean do we still really need OLD tactics articles?--Dark Angel 2020 (talk) 15:33, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Epic[edit]

Would someone with experience with one of the Epic maybe write a little tactics on it? Maybe a general page and something for Space Marines and Orks, at least? TheWiseDane (talk) 19:56, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

HH tactics[edit]

Should we branch out 30k tactics? It's technically a separate game, and we have quite alot of armies for it.

8th Edition[edit]

Since we're going to have to rewrite the Tactica pages from scratch, it might be an idea to plan out the details. For example:

  • Are we going to move 30K, Zone Mortalis and Kill Team to their own pages, or keep them nested with the 8th Edition Tacticas?
  • Related to the above - will we lump any Shadow War: Armageddon Tacticas in with those as well or not?
  • As unpopular as it is, will we be using the Extra Heretical Imperial Guard rename for the new Tactica, or continue to refer to them as Imperial Guard?
  • How much are we going to need to change up the Format for the pages?
Why wouldn't 30k, Zone Mortalis and Kill Team have their own pages still? If you mean tagging them where they belong, that's another thing entirely in which case 30k doesn't use 8th edition rules, Zome Mortalis is an expansion that now is no longer usable and nothing's really changed for Kill Team so I don't see why that wouldn't work with 8th edition.
Shadow War: Armageddon also uses its own rules (mostly anyway) so I don't see why it would be lumped in with 8th.
For the Imperial Guard, I'd say we put it to a vote. My vote would be no to the new name.
I don't see why the format would need to be changed. We have the same slots as before, with an extra flyer slot. -- Triacom (talk) 19:05, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

Zone Mortalis and 30K are currently on the main page instead of a separate folder. There is still a Kill Team folder, but they're also pasted over on the main page with all the other Tacticas as of writing. Also voting Imperial Guard and not Asinine Mini Fish Fillets.

  • I don't think the basic format of the pages needs to be changed all that much, just the content. In fact, the introduction and Why Play sections can probably be copy/pasted straight over for the most part, as the individual strengths, weaknesses, and appeal of each army as a whole are unlikely to change. And I vote Imperial Guard. Space Marines are still called Space Marines despite their "proper" name being Adeptus Astartes, we can still call the Imperial Guard by their common name too, whatever the "proper" name might be.
    • I agree by and large with the above. Still, there are some things that'll be changed - the replacement of the Formations section with the Battalions section, or the removal of the Artifacts section. There's still much we don't quite know. It's exciting and terrifying at the same time.
      • Where has it been said that relics are gone? That's news to me.
        • I was stating a hypothetical example of how things might change come 8th. Apologies if that wasn't clear in my previous statement.

Since more 8th Edition stuff has happened now, we need to talk some more.

  • The Imperial Guard are not the only one with the terrible Faux Latin renaming from the tome of the retconian. Coupled with the fact some folks have been most insistent on keeping the cancerous, lawyer friendly name and I seem to be the only one catching this (not to mention these same people haven't gone around giving everyone else their new, "proper" names), are we certain we're keeping the original names and not the newer names?
  • What are we going to do with the Gullimarines? They're technically still part of the Space Marine army, but can also be fielded on their own. To Tactica or add to the Space Marine Tactica?
  • Which point system will we be covering - Narrative, Matched or Both?

All of these things and possibly many more should be discussed.

For the point on the names, we can use them interchangeably, the only question was whether to name the pages after the new names or not since that can't be changed later. If somebody wants to have some text using the new name, I don't see any reason to stop them. As for the Primaris Marines, they'll be in the Space Marine tactica since that's the army they're a part of. You can make an army about them, just like you can make a Sisters of Battle army that includes no Sisters at all, it doesn't mean it should be separated just because though. As for the points, Matched is the only one intended for competitive play, so I don't really see why we'd try to cover any system that doesn't try to be as balanced as possible. -- Triacom (talk) 17:46, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
