On FF.net, an author can block a user, preventing them from posting a comment on further chapters, as one of the block's functions. This is practically a ban, which can be useful in some cases to prevent harassment, or a tool of thin-skinned authors to hold away those with valid criticism. current

Also, Staffsergeant bans for criticism of his fanfic. He also didn't inspire many others to make their own, he was late for the amount of stories that already existed, including those on sites he doesn't post on. His fic shouldn't be promoted here for no reason other than it exists in a Grimdark setting..
