Fuck off Laddie!

Warlord is the title of Squat commanders. Warlords are close relatives of Stronghold Lords, and take command of a Stronghold's Brotherhood in battle. On the battlefield he is accompanied by a unit of Hearthguard, drawn from the Lord's loyal retainers. They are identifiable due to their distinct and rather...comical looking horns. Bearing more of a resemblance to a flattened Viking that ate too many Meatbread. But that's 1980's model craftsmanship for you.

Back in my day, those horns were quite the looker.

Overview[edit]

It is traditional for a Warlord to present a Hearthguard with a gift in recognition of valor and loyalty, which is nearly always specially made. Sometimes by the hand of the Warlord himself, the highest of honors, and is often decorated with scenes of the events which it commemorates. These trophies are handed down from father to son, and a leading member of a long-established Hearthguard family can be expected to take the field resplendent with priceless antique jewellery. Unlike the normal Squat principles of succession, where everything passes to the heirs on a Squat's death, a Hearthguard cannot inherit his dead father's jewellery and trophies until he has won his first trophy on his own account; he then inherits his father's name, along with his full panoply of jewelry and equipment.

Rather like the knights of medieval worlds, Warlords and Hearthguards often have suits of Exo Armor.
