Feedback[edit]
Hey, i would love to give some feedback:
I really like the idea of the chevaliers. But why no ranged weapons on their bikes? All imperal bikes feature some attached bolters, and it would fit elite units well. Is there a reason not to include the option of using the classical weapons (Heavy Bolters, Flamers, and Melters) on the Chevaliers? Would make them an even cooler choice.
And the most unfulfilling part of the dex are the order special rules, they seem kinda dull and way to morale - centric. The stratagems outshine them so much, is there no chance to make them cooler? (E.g. one order that rerolls number of shots, one that adds one penetration to all bolt weapons, stuff like that). But other that that great work :D
Thanks for the feedback! The original idea with Chevaliers was to make them French knights, so no ranged weapons, but then I double-checked other bikers and you've got a point. I'll look into adding some ranged options to them. I also agree on the Order Precepts, it's been something I've been meaning to go back to, I just kept forgetting with all the other stuff that needed to be added to the codex. Back when I first made those rules there weren't many codexes out so I didn't have much to base them off of, but now that there are more, I'll look around and try to make them stand out more. --User:Sieger (talk) 03:06, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the super quick answer! My brother is a real adeptus enthusiast and already modeled some bikes, as mentioned with underslung heavy weapons - adding those should not be to bad for the balance, shouldn't it? As an idea for one of the precepts: why not have a precept be that units are allowed to throw 2 grenades instead of one (maybe with increased range also?) would be a really unique feature. The utilisation of grenades is something i really like in the dex, but only one per unit really keeps them from shining. Or a stratagem allowing a full grenade assault of a unit (each can throw a grenade) would also really rock. I would gladly help you out, and the mentioned brother would surely supply more images of really good looking models that are modded. --User:Kylorin (talk) 18:58:00, 23 April 2018 (UTC) To add to that: i once had a great p&p with a sororita miss-throwing a phosphor grenade really badly. A strategem allowing all models to rheow grenades but the grenades getting overheat like plasma would be rad.
I recommend toning down the trinity weapons. Comparing them to other factions snipers they win by a clean mile. Even if they are only good on the Retributors, the price on them are a steal. Also, is this really /tg/ made, or only by yourself(I like what you done btw). Anon, 12 August 2018
After taking another look at trinity rifles, I agree. I'll put out an update within the next few days to bump up their points cost, as well as add bookmarks and grammar fixes. As for your /tg/ question, the answer is sort of. The original codex I made in 7th edition was very heavily influenced by /tg/ (as can be seen in the threads I linked to in that article). This codex has been primarily my handiwork, but most of it is just an update to the 7e rules, so I still consider it a /tg/ product. I have tried posting this codex on /tg/ a few times, but I didn't get much in the way of useful ideas or feedback, so I didn't bother linking those threads in this article. --User:Conqueror (talk) 22:03, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
Are there any plans to update this fan codex as well to the format of the Beta Codex? It would be a shame to lose this book to irrelevancy by the bad changes made in CA 2018... Anon, 12 December 2018
By format, do you mean update the rules or the general look and feel of the codex? Right now my plans are to update the point costs and unit/weapon profiles to reflect the changes from CA (you can find the changes I'm making in the patch notes), but I'm a bit wary about adding too much from CA. Potential work and copyright issues aside, I need to play with the beta codex some more to get a good feel for it and see if there's anything in it I'd add to this codex. --User:Conqueror (talk) 06:13, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
Version 1.0[edit]
Sorry this has taken so long, work and school have been absolutely consuming my life for the past few months. Version 1.0 should be released tomorrow evening, I'm just putting a few finishing touches on it and doing a bit of play-testing before I release it. Barring any typo fixes or re-balancing, this will be the final update to the codex. I'm really thankful all the feedback and support I've gotten working on this codex and it's 7e predecessor; I've learned a lot over these past few years. --User:Sieger (talk) 23:09, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
Sisters Famulous[edit]
The role of Sisters Famulous as spies and Bene Gesserit seems underused. Maybe something like the Dagger of Tu'Sakh where she can deep strike or outflank and bring a unit of Battle Sisters along with her? Picking targets whose lineage she knows and giving advice, in the form of a bonus to hit/wound CHARACTERS? --Auroch (talk) 23:25, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
- Potential stat line. Rather than the Character-killer ability, she has Herald of Saints, acting as a saint-lite as long as you have a real Saint on the field. I'm also contemplating an HQ variant, a cross-trained "Celestian Famulous" who has proper armor. Auroch (talk)
Famulous: ELITE, 2 Power

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Famulous | 7" | 5+ | 3+ | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 8 | 6+ |
A Sister Famulous is a single model equipped with a holdout pistol.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Holdout Pistol | 9" | Pistol 1 | 3 | 0 | 1 |
Acts of Faith, Sacred Rites, Shield of Faith
Herald of Saints: As long as a friendly LIVING SAINT unit is on the battlefield, treat each FAMULOUS unit as a LIVING SAINT for the purposes of determining which units benefit from Beacon of Faith. Additionally, if a FAMULOUS unit is within 6" of a LIVING SAINT, the invulnerable save she receives from Shield of Faith improves by 2 rather than by 1.
Spiritual Fortitude: When this model would lose a wound as a result of a mortal wound in the Psychic phase, roll one D6; on a 5+ that wound is not lost.
Subtle Dealings: During deployment, you may set up this unit and one other ADEPTUS MINISTORUM INFANTRY unit hidden behind enemy lines instead of setting them up on the battlefield. If you do, at the end of one of your Movement phases you can set up this unit and that one in unit coherency anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 9" away from any enemy models and wholly within 6" of an edge of the battlefield.

Rather than one HQ version I made two; Palatine Famulous (on foot) and Chevalier Famulous (biker). They share a unique, required Warlord trait, which is abnormal for non-named characters but seemed like the right thing to do. --Auroch (talk) 05:27, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
Palatine Famulous: HQ, 3 Power
A Sister Famulous whose responsibilities bring her into peril frequently, most often as part of an Inquisitorial retinue or during the course of efforts to identify and locate a Living Saint, will often join an Order Militant rather than return to her previous duties. Such sisters are less able combatants than their sisters who have spent most of their lives as Sisters Militant, but retain the keen and twisty minds they displayed in the Orders Famulous. As such, they are often placed in command of a Mission, particularly one where deception is required.
| Name | M | WS | BS | S | T | W | A | Ld | Sv |

This model may replace its boltgun with a storm shield or a weapon from the Ranged Weapons or Special Weapons lists.
Spiritual Fortitude: When this model would lose a wound as a result of a mortal wound in the Psychic phase, roll one D6; on a 5+ that wound is not lost.
Mistress of Subtlety: During deployment, you may set up this unit and/or another ADEPTUS MINISTORUM INFANTRY units in hiding, instead of setting them up on the battlefield. If you do, at the end of any of your Movement phases, you may set up both of those units anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 9" away from any enemy models. If your army is battle-forged, the other unit you set up in hiding must be in the same Detachment as this unit.
Warlord Trait: Herald of Promise: This unit gains the Beacon of Faith rule, as a Living Saint. If you have a LIVING SAINT on the battlefield, any units within 6" of both LIVING SAINT and FAMULOUS units have their Shield of Faith invulnerable save improved by 2.
Storm Shield: If this model has a storm shield, it has a 3+ invulnerable save.

Chevalier Famulous: HQ, 4 Power
A Sister Famulous who fails her responsibilities will often join an Order Militant as a Sister Repentia. If she is judged to atone by her Mistress of Repentance, she usually chooses to join that order's Chevaliers rather than return to her previous duties. Such sisters retain the keen and twisty minds they displayed in the Orders Famulous, and so are often placed in command of a Mission, particularly one where deception is required.

Spiritual Fortitude: When this model would lose a wound as a result of a mortal wound in the Psychic phase, roll one D6; on a 5+ that wound is not lost.
Subtle Maneuvers: During deployment, you may set up this unit and up to two ADEPTUS MINISTORUM BIKER units behind enemy lines, instead of setting them up on the battlefield. If you do at the end of any of your Movement phases, you may set up each of those units anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 9" away from any enemy models and within 9" of the edge of the battlefield. Hey, I appreciate the feedback and interest in the codex. While I considered adding Sisters Famulous when I started updating this codex from 7th edition, I ultimately came to the conclusion that they don't really make sense as a unit in the army. Sisters Hospitaller and Dialogus work for accompanying a Sororitas army because the former are medics and the latter are subject-matter experts. Sisters Famulous, on the other hand, are spies and politicians; their work is done almost entirely behind the scenes. They're great at manipulating nobles, but that's a skill that translates a lot better into Dark Heresy than it does on the tabletop. Their order may have an uncanny ability for predicting the arrival of Living Saints, but there isn't anything to suggest that they can channel or utilize the power of LSs, at least, not better than any other Sororitas. However, like I said earlier, I could definitely see them being represented with a Strategem of some kind, in order to represent the subtle nature of their work. Perhaps this could be represented by messing up your opponent's ability to spend CPs (similar to Kyrinov), a buff to targeting non-Space Marine IMPERIUM HQs, or an ability to give designated ASTRA MILITARUM units the ADEPTUS MINISTORUM keyword to represent a noble lending the Sisterhood their men-at-arms? I'm open to other ideas and suggestions; I'm just spitballing here. --Conqueror (talk) 07:31, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
- Legit. I think the inclusion of Dialogus is pretty forced in the canon Codex, so it didn't seem like a leap to me. (Yes, they're subject-matter experts, but what they do in the army list is "transmit orders more effectively", which is a serious stretch.) I also didn't (and actually still don't) see you mentioning them earlier with regard to a Strategem or similar. Those ideas make sense, the CP interference one particularly. Spend <1/2> CP to interfere with an enemy <IMPERIUM/non-IMPERIUM> Strategem, roll a die to determine whether you block it successfully etc. --Auroch (talk) 18:55, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, when I first wrote "like I said earlier", I was starting off the message by saying that I though they would work better as a strategem, and I forgot to erase that when I changed the beginning of the message. I just got my copy of the codex today, so I'll have to take a look at how they updated Dialogus lore. --Conqueror (talk) 04:05, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- I happened to revisit this - I've started a Codex: Rogue Traders, and Sisters from the non-Militant orders seem likely to get a place there. While looking into it, I figured I could excerpt the official Dialogus lore. From Non-Militant Orders (p. 32):
The Sisters of the Orders Dialogus serve as scholars and advisors. They are expert translators of texts both human and xenos, holy and blasphemous, and spend years learning languages used in esoteric scripts. Much of their study is devoted to collating ancient scriptures that give accounts of the God-Emperor... The Orders Dialogus are also frequently called upon for their unparalleled expertise in cryptography. Their ability to unlock obscure ciphers and find patterns across vast reams of communiqués... In a war zone, Sisters Dialogus act as conduits through which Canonesses of Militant Orders can intone commands and prayers of defiance, ensuring that formations operating in isolation remain in communication with their spiritual leader
- So I think you can see why I feel their stated role on the battlefield is forced. They're loremasters, cryptanalysts, and SIGINT experts... and they walk onto the battlefield and act as communications relays. The detailed lore in their individual entry (p. 53) improves it somewhat by saying that they have vast tracts of prayers committed to memory and lead Sisters Militant in prayers, as well as carrying sacred tomes (which they have memorized cover to cover so that they can perfectly restore any battle damage). But it's still a schizophrenic description; they have two near-totally unrelated roles, one of which seems to exist just to justify why they appear on the tabletop. --Auroch (talk) 01:21, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
Battlescribe Datafile[edit]
Hello! its me Marvl101 again with another commissioned datafile, this time an edited version of the Astra Sororitas with Faith Militant's supplements!

Feedback from creating the Battlescribe files[edit]
Stratagems is misspelled in every instance; it should have a 2 As and 1 E.
The Dominator's Damage table starts at 6-12+ wounds, but the model only has 10. Also, should the Dominator have Supersonic? It has the standard Hover-jet wording which refers to it losing that rule.
The Cremator states that it can be taken by LIVING SAINTS or CANONESSES, but Canonesses can't take a hand flamer and are therefore ineligible to take it.
