Talk:8chan

From 1d4chan

Could we start compiling the shit we've made over there? I know one anon is doing Aetern, and recently we've had the vampire-blood-soul-metal-blood apocalypse thread, but what else is there? --jip 02:39, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Remember that this wiki caters primarily to 4chan's /tg/. Some people here might not be happy with the imageboard that dare not speak its name over here trying to take over "their" wiki. Petty, yes- but that's just the way it is. --Newerfag (talk) 02:54, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
Are you really going to bring inter-chan politics into this? Did Athens turn back trade from the Ionians, merely because of the gulf of ocean between? The intent we have in yonder möbius land is no less than the intent in the homeland, good tabletop content. Besides, I see no way this archive of lulz could be taken over by an admittedly vastly smaller crowd. --jip (talk) 03:17, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
It's just a fair word of warning, take it as you will. Over in our land, the typical depiction of your side is...less than generous, to say the least. Better for you to try and sneak things in without explicitly saying they first came from 8chan. It'll save you a lot of pain in the long run. --Newerfag (talk) 03:35, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
There are already a few articles in place that mention the dreaded land of infinite goobergrape pedophile reactionaries in the first few lines, and no one's lost his shit over it. And if this is just the result of ignorance, and there really is an editor or two that would remove relevant, quality OC because it came from a 'problematic' source, fuck him.--The Forgefather
Also, Aetern's supposedly being written up now by a different anon. An article should be going up soon.--The Forgefather
To add since I'm already updating this, /g/'s personal wiki (https://wiki.installgentoo.com/) has an article that at least tries to explain the tale of 8chan without bias or faggotry, and it's worked out pretty well for them. OriginalPrankster (talk) 16:28, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

Inspector Redwood[edit]

I edited the ironic description of Inspector Redwood and it was undid (in a mature way that maintained the joke and wouldn't cause a flame war, props to Original Prankster for not being an asshole). I understand the joke that Inspector Redwood would ban people for saying "nigger," but I don't think that it's helpful, especially since there are very few /tg/ goers who were on /co/ in 2014. It seems like it just doesn't add anything and most people don't get the joke. --Kracked Mynd (talk) 16:23, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

"Why isn't there a 1d8chan?"[edit]

Because, sadly, there isn't enough of a difference between either /tg/. Plus most things that are discussed on both are one and the same. The idea has been brought up. But most people would rather just have one site rather than two that inevitably would have the same articles with the same content with the same jokes, etc. That is why there is content from 8chan on here, although it is scarce to begin with. --FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF (talk) 17:35, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

Regarding 8chan Manifestos[edit]

While FB was initially used Facebook live video, links and the manifesto were posted to /pol/. Here's news coverage for all three shootings. https://www.news.com.au/world/pacific/gunman-who-opened-fire-on-christchurch-mosque-addresses-attack-in-manifesto/news-story/70372a39f720697813607a9ec426a734 https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/14/world/asia/christchurch-nz-shooting.html https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/14/world/asia/new-zealand-shooting-updates-christchurch.html https://www.nbcnews.com/us-news/anti-semitic-open-letter-online-under-chabad-synagogue-n999211 https://www.bellingcat.com/news/americas/2019/08/04/the-el-paso-shooting-and-the-gamification-of-terror/ https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2019/aug/04/mass-shootings-el-paso-texas-dayton-ohio-8chan-far-right-website --Kracked Mynd (talk) 20:14, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

Nobody denies it was posted to 8ch. If it was the original, by the shooter and before the shooting is in question. --Agiletek (talk) 05:28, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
In regard to the El Paso shooting, [it was posted 27 minutes before the shooting]. I can't find much about timing for the other two, but, to be honest, I need a break from reading about white supremacists killing people. Either way, the fact that this is reposted and applauded on a forum, anonymous or not, is disgusting and deserves to be condemned. The same applies to 4chan, and anything else. Also, I feel like the only one doubting that these were all original is Watkins, who is 100% fucking insane. --Kracked Mynd (talk) 15:41, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
Where the fuck are you getting white supremacist from? Guy was mad anchor babies don't work, unlike their parents. UBI+Government Health Care+American lifestyle must end for environment=communist. --Agiletek (talk) 22:13, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/09/us/el-paso-shooting-friday/index.html
That's about as racist as it gets mate. --Kracked Mynd (talk) 22:36, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
The article linked doesn't appear to even quote the manifesto outside of a pair of two word phrases. Primary source outright says everyone in the US is the problem in his mind. I'm going to take the primary source over a network that outright claims white people have "internal racism", claims it's their "obligation as a journalist" to call people racist, and claims a college kid smiling is a hate crime. --Agiletek (talk) 00:04, 11 August 2019 (UTC)
I'm not sure if you read the article, but in case you did and you missed it, I can give you three more that corroborate that the arresting police officers told ABC news that he "wanted to shoot as many Mexicans as possible."
Here's a direct quote from the manifesto:

With policies like these, the Hispanic support for Democrats will likely become nearly unanimous in the future. The heavy Hispanic population in Texas will make us a Democrat stronghold. Losing Texas and a few other states with heavy Hispanic population to the Democrats is all it would take for them to win nearly every presidential election. Although the Republican Party is also terrible. Many factions within the Republican Party are pro-corporation. Pro-corporation = pro-immigration. But some factions within the Republican Party don't prioritize corporations over our future. So the Democrats are nearly unanimous with their support of immigration while the Republicans are divided over it. At least with Republicans, the process of mass immigration and citizenship can be greatly reduced.

Again, violence being applauded on a board that we are associated with, albeit indirectly, deserves condemnation, period. --Kracked Mynd (talk) 00:15, 11 August 2019 (UTC)
I did read the article. That quote wasn't used in it. More (illegal) immigration=greater Hispanic population=more democrat votes is well established as a mainstream thought on both sides of the isle. I never said he shouldn't be condemned, just that trying to claim "white supremacy" is more of a reach than the media is willing to admit. Certainly the first "white supremacist" I've seen say they're motivated by the lifestyle of the "average American" "destroying the environment". Absolutely the first to say " the idea of deporting or murdering all non-white Americans is horrific. Many have been here at least as long as the whites, and have done as much to build our country". The claim is wishful thinking from a very desperate media. If you're going to use the views of a secondary source, attribute it to secondary sources. --Agiletek (talk) 00:36, 11 August 2019 (UTC)

However, our lifestyle is destroying the environment of our country. The decimation of the environment is creating a massive burden for future generations.

Everything I have seen and heard in my short life has led me to believe that the average American isn’t willing to change their lifestyle, even if the changes only cause a slight inconvenience. The government is unwilling to tackle these issues beyond empty promises since they are owned by corporations.

Revival of 8chan[edit]

So, apparently, 8chan has been brought back to life under the new moniker of 8kun. Is that at all relevant to this article?--QuietBrowser (talk) 16:52, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
