"Keep in mind that most of the article was written by people who don’t know that mail is just a type of metal armor and platemail and chainmail are both mail. But, now you know since you read this." No it fuckin' ain't. Both platemail and chainmail are incorrect neologisms invented by Victorians and made popular by D&D. Mail on its own means the "chain-mail", and "chain-mail" only and not "metal armor" overall. Otherwise we'd have to have things like "brigandinemail", "lamellarmail", "laminarmail", "email" and "canringpullmail".
