Talk:Autogun

From 1d4chan

I like the interpretation that the Autogun can be considered a tactical weapon versus the simpler, harder-to-modify Lasgun. I believe it was during the first Gereon mission in the Gaunt's Ghosts series that the Gereon 12 were armed with Autoguns due to the gas-propelled shots being capable of being suppressed, or maybe I'm thinking of the attack on Ouranberg, but my point is, should this trait be mentioned in the article? Up until now I've only done minor cleaning up of the Covenant Weaponry page, so I wasn't sure whether to include information that's only brought up once and not within one of the Codices.

If I recall corectly in DH there is modification for fo lasguns called Whisper-something. It's basicly sound sound and light supressor for las armament. Gustavfag

Why not?
For future reference, you don't need to ask permission before editing a page (it's polite to discuss major revisions before enacting them, but the whole point of a wiki is that everyone can edit almost everything on it). Also, if you put ~~~~ after your posts, it puts down a signature and timestamp (I like to put two dashes [--] in front of that, but that's a personal decision). --Not LongPoster Again (talk) 23:08, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Well, the existence of the Whisper-bolt Discharger for las-weaponry renders my original point moot, so I'll leave it be. Once again, the impossibility for all 40k authors to be perfectly familiar with the entirety of all other works leads to a minor inconsistency in much the same way nobody can decide what color beam/sound/damage a lasgun produces. --Zephyr102 (talk) 06:23, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

Autogun stopping power[edit]

Quote: "There is significant debate over the actual power of Auto and Stub weapons, with the "high power" team citing higher tech level and advanced materials, and "modern power" team citing no mention of any kind of recoil compensator (limiting power), and less innovative designs."
Well, since the IA-5 actually gave us insights into the autogun's (at least the ones meant to be "at about the level of power of Guard-issue lasguns") specs, it could actually be somewhat quantified. According to the IA-5, Agripinaa-pattern autogun fires 8,25mm bullets at muzzle velocity of 820-825 meters per second, actually implying kinetic energy of something in between that of the 7,62x51mm rifles and that of .338 Norma Magnum rifles.--Terran Ghost (talk) 00:34, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

Macro Cannon[edit]

The "tetrajoule" is probably a typo for terajoule (10^12 joules) rather than petajoule (10^15 joules). 60 terajoules is about the power of the little-boy nuke, or 15 kilotons of TNT.
