Talk:Codex- The Covenant/Weaponry

From 1d4chan

I've been enjoying 1d4chan for a while now, and recently stumbled upon the Halo Covenant Weaponry page. It seems off, but I'm not sure what should be done about it. We do have an article on the Halo franchise, but at the very least this set of articles requires cleanup.

"They, unlike their smaller brethren contain two separate Plasmic capacitors, one is located in the base of the stand while the other is in the cannon itself, allowing for massive ammo. These cannons cause massive suppression, with a massive rate of fire greater then even a Plasma Repeater with an even greater range."

Also, a very large number of the weapons described are specifically noted for their ability to destroy 'X' vehicle or infantry unit from the 40k universe with great ease, or that the given weapon is just somehow better than its' Imperium/Xenos counterpart or, in the case of Brute Weapons, are highly desired by Orks as symbols of status, and I'm worried that perhaps the original author was being a bit of a fanboy while writing them.

"...the Needler pistol is still a dangerous weapon to even the Astartes."

"Such damage is equal if not worse then that of a Bolter."

"They are so powerful that just three needles are enough to cause a "Super-combine" explosion, and crack open Astartes Power armor like an egg."

"...the Covenant employed two cooling vents, which unlike the Imperiums, is more efficient and advance, preventing mishaps."

"A single shot should be enough to heavily cripple or destroy even a mighty Malcador-Heavy Tank."

"But their powers are truly awesome, due to its concentrated nature of a Beam, they can slice apart Dreadnoughts and even Baneblades like wet tissue paper. Making them a high-priority target to the Imperium of Man."

"These energized particles could strip shields and slice apart most armor like a power sword through paper."

"Damages include complete vaporization of any unit, even Terminator units, and turning almost any vehicle short of a Titan, into molten slag."

"...these turns it Assault Cannon into a fusion of a Flamer and a Meltagun, immolating everything in Nuclear Fire."

"...a single shot is enough to liquify even a Baneblade or Tau Riptide, and heavily damage a Titan that is below Warlord-Class."

You get the idea.

I am not a frequenter of /tg/, so I'm not sure, but was it ever agreed that Covenant weaponry was this amazing?

Also notable is the frequent linking to the grimdark article whenever describing the grisly effects of a class of weapon in a manner that appears to be almost following a pattern imitating other articles. I can help with the grammar some, but the overall tone of Covenant Weaponry > Just about everything in 40k would be harder to fix.

  • Most of the "Damage this X with sufficient Y" was picked from a various sources depicting what the Covenant weaponry can do to a human, those humans being liquified or disintegrated by Covenant small-arms are not wank, they are legit feats that I have put in those page, therefore there are no bias fanboyism on here. Furthermore, this is a fusion of a "What if" event if the Covenant were instead dropped in the 40K universe, and do take note that every other article from a specific race weaponry, always speak highly of them, so in this page I just buffed their feats a little but not enough to qualify it as wank; so just take it with a pinch of salt. Now I haven't edited those pages for quite a long while now, since I am mostly correcting calcs from different pages. Derpysaurus
  • Thank you for clarifying. I'm new, as I said earlier, so I probably spoke without being damned sure of what I was saying, and improperly referred to your descriptions as fanwank.
  • No probs, so long you can help contribute, then I wouldn't mind. Derpysaurus

Merger[edit]

Why give each weapon type its own page? Just put them all on here. Better yet, just merge it with the Codex itself.--Newerfag (talk) 05:37, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
