Missing Keywords[edit]

Found that the daemons are missing the daemons keyword, is that intentional, if not should they be under Faction or other?

VeryIntelligentShadeOfTheColourBlue (talk): The units will still need the demon keyword (as they are still demons), but they could have a rule which prevents enemy units from targeting them because of their demon rule. It would be ultimately the same as not giving them the demon rule but it would be crunch correct and fluffy.

Chaledy (talk): The missing keyword is intentional as it allows the various Malal's daemons to operate outside of rules that would interfere with them (including their own). We could give them a rule to bypass this but it would be much quicker to just don't give it, also, they are daemons of Malal, they are supposed to be of contradictory nature, of course, I'm not saying that the rules must be incoherent and thrown together but it would be appropriate in my opinion that despite being some-what daemons they lack the actual keyword. In Malal fashion, this is indeed a true paradox.

Malal knights[edit]

Chaledy (talk): I was thinking that we could maybe create a separate section for the Malal knights to give them their own stratagems/traits/relics so that they work similarly to the "normal" Chaos knights. What do you think?

VeryIntelligentShadeOfTheColourBlue (talk): In that case we’ll swap it for a greater demon. I’m a fan of super heavies/low model count elite units which is why I added a knight entry.

balance suggestions[edit]

Lord of Paradoxes: adding ap to Sv feel like much, mabey change it to ignore Ap and then Add +1 to armour save if the weapon has ap.

VeryIntelligentShadeOfTheColourBlue (talk): It would be better to add a negative effect to the relic than weakening it. The current ability is very fluffy but I agree it could do with a change.

Save space with Death to the Believers[edit]

Death to the Believers is already described in the Army Rules, it doesn't need to be described in every other entry.

PS: should also include rules for Bolter Discipline. PSS: with the Update for all CM getting Hatful Assult, should that be added to the marines?

VeryIntelligentShadeOfTheColourBlue (talk): The codex is very new, but it is one of the things which will get changed.

Daemon Engines[edit]

Chaledy (talk): I'm not sure about the inclusion of any kind of daemon engine into the codex as, per lore, the Sons of Malice are actually more similar to loyalist Marines than to their heretic siblings. I think this codex should restrain from things such mutilators, obliterators and other "mutated" units as well as any too Warp-ish theme since technically Malal doesn't actually inhabit the Warp. In my opinion, we should just concentrate on daemons and other "ethereal" units also to give the Sons of Malice a true identity instead of being just a Chaos reskin. Let me know what you think.

VeryIntelligentShadeOfTheColourBlue (talk): I don’t know how much horus Hersey fluff you know but in that there is “scrap code” which the dark mechanicus get out of a vault on mars. There’s also the battle automata used to protect the primarch perterarbo. In 30k tabletop there’s rules for both of these things, I was thinking of rules for machines corrupted by chaos, perhaps I shouldn’t have called them demon engines as this isn’t technically true, they’re machines from 30k who have had their basic artificial intelligence corrupted by chaos.

Chaledy (talk): Oh sorry, I didn't know that, my bad! Then I think it's perfect since the Sons of Malice are supposed to have some really "ancient" stuff. Sorry again and keep up with your good work!

VeryIntelligentShadeOfTheColourBlue (talk): If your ever stuck on ideas for units or equipment for a fan made army just head over to the relevant Horus heresy tactics page. The Horus heresy has so much customisation and cool units, also, pop onto audible and start listening to the Horus Hersey stuff. The armour section is also partly an option for Horus heresy armies, but I’ve expanded on it here as it would be fluff correct.

The primarch[edit]

VeryIntelligentShadeOfTheColourBlue (talk): I designed the primarch with more of a ranged role in the mind and being weaker than the other primarchs (like alpha toys and omergon). The mirror shield was created as a sniper shield, setting the primarch out as being drastically different to the other primarchs. The demonic and nondemonic options are there to represent the uncertainty of their patron god, either presenting that their appearance on the battlefield is not linear (appearing nonlinearly in time) or that their god frequently revoked their demon princehood.

Blessed and Cursed[edit]

VeryIntelligentShadeOfTheColourBlue (talk): The blessed and cursed are meant to be the equivalent of the []Gal ]], greater chosen/possessed marines but with the ability to fly. The gal vorbak were the first ever possessed marines and were incredibly powerful (effectively being as tough as custodies but hitting harder). I designed the blessed and cursed to be a sons of malice version of the original word bearer unit from the Horus heresy unit.
