Talk:Deathworld
Wargame Zone[edit]
I know that this is just a setting for now but are we ever going to make a set of rules that are like Warhammer 40k so that we can represent the battles that happen in this Grimdark hellhole of a planet that we created. I also have some proposals for how the factions should be structured based on the fluff from the main page. What does everyone think? ilniaj
- The Nazis are Specialists/Technicals. The variety of magic that they use means that troops are specialized for a certain role while demonic abilities have to be used carefully.
- The Soviet Union is a Ranger faction. The Soviets are heavily based around ranged combat due to their military being based around advanced technology rather than things like undead resilience, or demonic strength.
- The Constitutionalists are a Spammer/Technical faction. Massive amounts of cheap undead infantry while the more expensive stuff has a ton of special abilities that have to be used as a force multiplier.
- Free Britain are Guerillas. They are mainly focused on raiding and thus require stealth and trickery to win a fight.
- New Australia are Elitist/Generalist. Their troops are individually more powerful than everyone else due to advanced technology but are constantly swamped by enemies. They can pretty much be able to change their tactics on the fly.
- Japan is a Brute. The units are imbued with the power of the kami and the tactics are simple. Tear into the opponent like a chainsaw through butter.
- UAR is a Spammer/Guerilla. Undead troops will tie up the defenders while the elites hit the real target.
- Canada is a Elitist/Guerilla army. The Mounties are imbued with massive power from the spirits and can hold their own against massive numbers by using speed and strength to cripple the enemy and then pick them off one by one.
- I think all interest in it dried up a long time ago; I can only assume everyone involved got bored and decided to do other stuff. /tg/ has some serious attention span issues like that.--Newerfag (talk) 23:37, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
- Aw. That's a shame. It /tg/ created a whole game system and setting from an obvious troll thread then it would be the greatest example of /tg/ getting shit done in existence. ilniaj (talk)
- You have to remember that /tg/ is very easily bored- as soon as the ideas stop coming as quickly, everyone involved stops caring and moves on to either one of the /tg/ mainstays or the next big setting (which will itself meet the same fate in all but the most extraordinary circumstances). Unfortunate, but that's just how it works. --Newerfag (talk) 05:15, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- Map? File: 1354844856541.png-(553 KB, 4500x2234, Deathworld Compromap.png) It really is needed for the page to be complete [half]
- Keep in mind it's really easy to start up discussion on this again (it's a rare day that a Deathworld thread dies, just post commubama, the map, and some ideas you have, plus the link here and you're set), though the consensus last time was that it should be an RPG akin to World of Darkness or perhaps Spirit of the Century rather than a table top wargame.--Shadowclasper (talk) 10:32, 09 February 2015 (CST)
RPG Zone[edit]
Ok. All I know about the topic is basically from the article, and considering that there are a bunch of old friends(Thule etc.) it might be possible to focus the game rules on special characters like the Canadian Shamans, VATO necromancers, and Ahnerbe summoners instead of making a wargame(given that British factions are trying to pursue an unspecified goal with said goal requires certain magicky objects and strange activities), CoC style.
