There's not really a reason to have "Dire Bear" and its description both link to the same page.
- They're NOT linking to the same page. One is linking to "Bear" and the other is linking to "Bear Lore", which are entirely different pages. --Piroko (talk) 19:14, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, we're lacking a page for just "Bears." We have one for sharks, so I guess we could make one. I still wouldn't link the whole description to "Bear Lore" it doesn't look great.
The Dire Beaver comes from Kobold Press, I just added the picture to illustrate how a bunch of animals had a dire version.
Giant Animals and Insects
Do we want a bunch of pictures of the giant spiders and other giant animals on here? Or do we want a different page for them? I feel like the dire animals are different from just giant ones.
- Well, the basic idea behind the Dire Animal template was to essentially take all of the "normal animal, but bigger!" animals of AD&D and just boil it down to a handy template you could apply to any critter, so you didn't need to have pages in the Monster Manual specifically devoted to Giant Frogs and Giant Ants and Giant Beetles... even if a lot of them were subsequently grandfathered in... I don't know, I personally wouldn't object to making this page as the common ground for the Dire Animal templae and all of the various other D&D Giant Animals, with Giant Animal turned into a redirect here. But I'll go with the consensus on this one.--QuietBrowser (talk) 03:26, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
- Part of the weirdness with that is that "Dire Animal" was never actually made as a template.--LamenterLover (talk) 03:46, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
