With the release of "Death from the Skies" i disagree that the Doom Scythe is a great air-to-air unit. With the changes from DftS it can only make snap shots against other flyers, and can be killed in the dogfight phase.
However it got a nice +1 BS boost against ground targets (from "Ground attacker").
