Talk:Fallout

From 1d4chan

this entire article was written by a kid who has never played the first two games and i am so disgusted that i can not summon the will fix it. just goto another wiki to learn about fallout.--Kapow (talk) 02:04, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

/tg/ relevance reminder[edit]

Instead of the huge-ass bloated article about the setting as a whole, wouldn't it be wiser to give a succinct summary and detail the obscure and short-lived pen and paper RPG spinoff of the series? I hate to sound like a broken record about this pet peeve of mine, but if there's no sign of what makes this relevant to /tg/ then the whole article is flat-out worthless. BURN IT BURN IT BURN IT

Fallout 4[edit]

Fallout 4 is a flop that ruins the lore in the previous games to make room for its own to the amount that Fallout 2 was made non-canon. It also has two poorly made DLCs that are a attempt to extract as much money in the most fastest time span possible before they released the half assed modding kit.

Also let me post this. "The United States reorganized itself into 13 commonwealths with the states functioning as counties and the old Maryland Cowpens Flag with 13 stars replaced the 50 stars of Old Glory. The US progressed through the women's liberation and civil rights movements, so by the time of the bombs falling, racism and sexism were mostly forgotten. Religion and society's perception/treatment of it appear to have remained unchanged from the 60's; so no Catholic church scandals, no new atheism movement and no Islamophobia." Why did they do this, it was never needed and is only adding more politics to gaming and also showing even more of a disregard to Fallout 2 and New Vegas.

Reduction of this page[edit]

This is a really fucking big page, and though I love Fallout and think it has decent relevance to /tg/, this still needs to be culled something fierce. There's just too much stuff, and especially too much /v/-like rage towards the games that honestly doesn't have much relevance to /tg/.

Who's up for cutting this down to size? TheWiseDane (talk) 08:03, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

There's no reason for it. --Thannak (talk) 09:05, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
I dunno man, I think it's way too messy, even for our standards. TheWiseDane (talk) 10:03, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
Messy? Oh boy, you should see 8th edition Space Marine or Imperial Guard pages. So yeah, agree with Thannak. There is also a board game with neat miniatures coming up from FFG, so the page can become relevant pretty soon. That said, it's using Fallouts 3-4 as inspiration instead of New Vegas. --Flutist (talk) 14:11, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
Best solution is collapsible bars like usual. It is kind of a drag to try to scroll through I guess, although we ought to decide if the boardgame gets its own page. --Thannak (talk) 00:40, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

"setting" part of the article has been blocked into bars like Thannak talked about. I'm still up for reducing the skub/rage-level of the article, but it's fine for now. TheWiseDane (talk) 14:21, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

I'm going to go a step further and actually cut the page down to size instead of trying to hide the useless crap behind collapsible bars. At least the 8e Space Marine and IG pages actually have a direct connection to tabletop games. --Newerfag (talk) 20:09, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

My god. We are finally free. TheWiseDane (talk) 20:33, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
At least until some idiot panics at seeing his thousands of words of nitpicking over tiny details gone and reverts it all. I can do this all day if I must. --Newerfag (talk) 20:37, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
Good, cause I think you might have to. TheWiseDane (talk) 20:41, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
May I ask why? Why do you all feel the need to cut down something that doesn't cost, is free and verifiable and fun? --SaltyMan (talk) 04:34, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
What you call "free, verifiable and fun", I call "irrelevant, unrelated, and lacking in focus". Why should this wiki try to be every other wiki on the Internet as well? Should we also start giving lengthy plot summaries of harem anime because someone used one of them in a quest once? --Newerfag (talk) 06:25, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
No harem shit, you deleted EVERYTHING from weapon mechanics to plot. Why do you want interesting content and chat away? Why? Because you want this "wiki to be pure?" seriously?--SaltyMan (talk) 16:49, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
A better question is "why do we need to have weapon mechanics and whatnot on here in the first place when the average /tg/ denizen will not care?" The current plot summaries I have left on here are enough to describe the overall storyline of the games without spoiling anything, and I can't possibly imagine what purpose the massive sections focusing solely on plotholes and complaining about why Fallout 3 and 4 were bad could have served. Just look at the very first comment in this section and you'll have all the answers you'll need. --Newerfag (talk) 17:47, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
OK. Why don't we clean out the Command and Conquer page as well? Same shit. Are hurt by Fallout in some way and trying to feel better by wiping out instead of writing, like I did to Drowtales, kickstarting the whole shitstorm thread ages ago when I put a small footnote in Drow page? Yup, that was me.--SaltyMan (talk) 17:41, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
I've just done exactly that, so don't think I'm picking on this page specifically. Take a look at it and see for yourself.--Newerfag (talk) 18:15, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
You must be feeling like a real tough guy now.--SaltyMan (talk) 18:43, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
If you want to complain further, take it to the talk section of the main page instead. --Newerfag (talk) 20:40, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
You aren't worth arguing with. I'm not giving you the attention besides the occasional shoutout whenever I feel like.--SaltyMan (talk) 05:09, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
Then why did you even bother replying to me just now, genius?--Newerfag (talk) 13:36, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
