Talk:Great Rift

Can someone add the maps of the galaxy split up in two? I don't know how to format it properly.
Just go under, stupid![edit]
Why is the imperium limited to just those two little gaps? space is two dimensional, so why not just go up and over the galactic plane?2001:4930:48:53:59C2:F740:FEFA:F787 02:40, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- Because the Imperium needs to enter another dimension to cross the galaxy, for which space (including 3 dimensional space) and time are not fixed constructs. It doesn't matter how high or low they go, all that matters is where they enter and where they leave because everything in between is still going to act as if they're cutting through the middle. Also doing that could delay them for even longer which just leaves more time for something to go wrong and for daemons to fuck with them. -- Triacom (talk) 06:34, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- Also I'm pretty sure you either meant to say "space is three dimensional" or "space is not two dimensional" instead of "space is two dimensional" since it is not. As far as the warp is concerned however, it might as well be. -- Triacom (talk) 06:35, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- Just throwing it out here, but nobody can really estimate how "tall" the Great Rift is. It might very well be as large as the galaxy itself, so going under or over it would be impossible due to time constraints. There's also the fact that going that far down/up is out of the Astronomican's reach (which the rift is already making problematic to access in the first place), so anyone trying that might end up in the void of uncharted space at best and in the maw of the Warp at worst. It doesn't help that the Imperium still doesn't fully understand how exactly Warp travel works, apart from traversing hell and praying to the Emperor they don't get dry-humped by daemons and arrive at their destination as expected.
