AV 12 Overpowered?[edit]

Seems most armies can deal with it. Large volumes of S7 fire should do the trick, as should lesser volumes of S8+ shooting with Skyfire. If you can get a flyer behind it, you can upload into the weaker rear armor, so flyers are generally good against the Heldrake. Not counting super-heavies and the like, there are lots of options. Imperial Guard have AA Manticores, Hydras (admittedly not that effective against AV 12), Vultures, Vendettas, and a bunch of Forge World flyers. Space Marines and variants have the new Whirlwind Scorpius, as well as the Whirlwind Hyperios, plus flyers of their own. Sisters are the only Imperial army I can see having much trouble, and even then, they do get the Avenger. Chaos Space Marines have their own Heldrakes, plus their various other FW fliers. Daemons are fucked. Dark Eldar have Ravens, Razorwings, and Voidravens. Eldar have Crimson Hunters, while Corsairs get the Nightwing. Necrons will have trouble, although massed gauss fire might do it. Tau have no trouble, of course. Tyranids run into the same trouble they have with all flyers. So really only two armies have that much trouble - and if you include super-heavies and gargantuan creatures, only the Necrons have difficulty, as the Tyranids get the Harridan, which will rip a Heldrake to shreds.

  • It's partly comedic hyperbole, really (remember, 1d4chan is, first and foremost... well, first and foremost it's a /tg/ wiki, but after that, it's a comedic wiki). Feel free to delete it if you want, but I think it's just funny that, on top of all the other rules it gets to ignore, it has AV 12 (although Kelly seems to have learned his lesson, since the Hemlock Wraithfighter is only AV 10). Is that really hard to deal with? No, not really, but the message (which, I"ll admit, I made somewhat vague) is how the hell did somebody think this would be balanced?, and AV 12 is just one more bullet point on that list. Dok (talk)
