How powerful are WH40K ships?[edit]
What do you think is the most reasonable calcs for WH40K ships? Gigatons-Megatons? I say this because of the Extermination of Typhon vid that showed single-digit Megatons at best. Your thoughts? :--->Derpysaurus
- Powerful enough to get the job done given sufficient loiter time. Gotta put this in perspective, it takes months to get anywhere in the warp, sitting over a planet continuously firing lances for a week or two is nothing. Piroko (talk) 03:59, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Ship resource requirements[edit]
I recall someone on an online forum stating that the fluff states that Battleships (or maybe even smaller ships) require an entire planets worth of resources to create and that it's caused by a combination of the writers wanting to make things more Grimdark and a lack of knowledge of scale (Earth can produce dozens of 12 kilometer ships). I don't know where it says that. Could anyone point out where? ilniaj
They aren't Gloriana[edit]
Specifically, the Bucephalus and the Alpha/Omega duo are all Battle Barges, not Gloriana ships.
- They're both --2001:8003:3895:3A00:C890:4888:23F5:8CB2 02:15, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
Where are the Non-Imperial fleet articles?[edit]
Is surprising that after years, there arent yet any articles about other faction void navies. The Imperial navy is the most detailed one, and of the most popular, but that doesnt excuse not having a Chaos navy, Eldar navy, Tau navy, etc article. Hell, there isnt even an article or section in the Imperial Navy article, about the Adeptus Astartes ships!
- Shit, if you can get enough information and images and compose the pages, do it. I think the articles aren't currently around because the fluff doesn't interest a lot of neckbeards and that there is a lack of information, so if it interests you, make it. --Kracked Mynd (talk) 15:33, 8 February 2019 (UTC) edit: Actually, there is a section about Space Marine ships, so that's one more tick off your list.
- I'll add the Astartes sometime this week, but the Eldar and T'au now have pages. --Lord Of The Lemmings (talk) 06:33, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
- Adeptus Astartes Fleet already exists --Dark Angel 2020 (talk) 06:38, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
- Good. I wasn't looking forward to an all nighter anyway. Are there any other navies we have missed? --Lord Of The Lemmings (talk) 06:51, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

There is a Fleet of Chaos article now....[edit]
So shouldn't the information about gone-traitor ships on the Imperial Navy article be moved there, and leave the Imperial Navy article be total or almost about still loyal ships?
- The Imperials still use pretty much every traitor ship that they had at one point, most are just mothballed. So I'm iffy on it, personally. --58.162.223.230 09:11, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
Keel vs Spine Construction[edit]
Are we sure we have the nomenclature correct? The current wording of this page is that traitor ships were all keel built, but my understanding is that traitor ships are spine built which is why they're wider and more mushroom shaped, hanging down from the spine, while loyalist ships are keelbuilt which makes them narrower and taller. Piroko (talk) 03:57, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
- If I recall correctly, it's the other way around. Keel building causes them to bulge out like IRL ships did, while spine building makes the lean shape because they hang straight down. But it wouldn't surprise me if GW themselves get mixed up. --58.162.223.230 03:59, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
- Keel building causes them to bulge out like IRL ships did Except they don't bulge out the right direction. Chaos ships DO look like sailing ships, except... they're upside down. Hence, a spine.Piroko (talk) 04:08, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
- Huh, you're right. Personally, I'd put something along the lines of "or maybe it's the other way around, I doubt even GW knows themselves". --58.162.223.230 04:12, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
- Here's what I think happened. I've got Battlefleet Koronus in front of me right now, page 48 paragraph 1 does suggest that keel built are flatter and wider, and spine built are narrow and vertical. But FFG has a habit of getting things wrong. But I don't have any BFG books handy at the moment to disprove them with. So no change at the moment. Piroko (talk) 04:17, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
- I feel like the intention may be that in a Spine built one, the gravity pulls it down, so it's lean. While the Keel built ones are flatter because the gravity causes them to belly out. But, the thing is, gravity means shit when they're built in orbit, so clearly GW doesn't know shit as usual. --58.162.223.230 04:22, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Cardinal[edit]
I notice the article is missing the Cardinal class heavy cruiser. The original hull used to create the Acheron, this heavy cruiser is unusual in that it has FLR torpedo tubes. Appeared in Battlefleet Gothic Magazine issue 2, page 38. Also appeared in fleetlists in Imperial Armor 10.
