If we're being perfectly honest, it's not just a matter of "nerdrage". Lorraine Williams is truly, factually, an awful fucking business executive. Aside from treating customers AND employees like shit, she also basically used TSR to keep herself wealthy at the expense of the company. And she did it by driving TSR into bankruptcy. You can argue about intentions all you want, but you don't get to argue with the number 0.

Never mind the fact she ALSO tried to use legal bullshit to prevent Gary from even trying to make other games, which was both unethical (no judge should have EVER found in her favor) and immoral (it was simply Lorraine going after Gary, just to crush a competitor rather than making TSR better).

We can sit here and pose hypothetical theories from our comfy armchairs all day long. Gary Gygax and/or the Blumes were clearly already walking the line down to bankruptcy, sure. But at least then the story would have been that some lovable neckbeards tried and failed to make a real living out of their favorite hobby. Instead, the story is some Shakespearean bullshit about how friends got dollar signs in their eyes, fucked over their buddy, then when he tried to find someone to be his business friend he got backstabbed on repeat for years until TSR was finally destroyed from the inside out.

You find me any business-educated person who says Lorraine Williams did a good job, even by the standards of that time, and I'll show you someone you shouldn't hire to be the manager of a fucking McDonald's, much less put in charge of any aspect of a serious corporate structure.
