Talk:Malekith

Usurper or Rightful Ruler?[edit]

I think Malekith is clearly a usurper and definitely not the rightful Pheonix King as the article previously said, mainly because succession was never established as being passed from father to son, and since the next Pheonix King was elected democratically succession was never anything but democratic elections. This is also ignoring the fact that the Pheonix King has to walk through the Flames of Asuryan without getting burned, something he failed to do which on its own disqualifies him. If anybody has evidence to the contrary please leave it here.--Triacom

He's the rightful Phoenix King because Asuryan says so, by the looks of it.

The Phoenix Kings walked through the flames and weren't burned because of the enchantments placed on them by elven mages; that was basically cheating and so they were never truly king. Asuryan says Malekith is rightful king so he's rightful king. Even if that weren't the case it isn't likely that anybody will be able to overthrow the crazy bastard.

Yep. Asuryan would have made him Phoenix King, but because Malekith got out of the fire too early he was roasted. And now that all the decisions by the councils over the cource of millenia have been overturned by their god it is obvious that Malekith has been groomed to be a good backup Phoenix King and immune to the effects of Widowmaker for a very long time. • Out of curiosity, since that was Asuryan's test, didn't Malekith technically fail the first time since he didn't stay in the flames long enough, showing a lack of strength on his part? I'm also surprised that Asuryan didn't seem to mind Malekith defiling his shrine by killing his priests.
  • According to Teclis that is the case, though I'm not sure how much I trust Teclis in that book given how he misconstrues or hides information (like not telling Malekith what destabilizing the vortex would do). - Triacom (talk)
