Talk:Metal Gear

From 1d4chan

Is there a reason for making this page? Was there some Metal Gear tabletop game I wasn't aware of that encompasses the entire series? Is it brought up on /tg/ a lot? Because as far as I can see this doesn't really have much to do with /tg/ or tabletop/traditional games in general. -- Triacom (talk) 08:01, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the answer is "no" on all those counts. --Newerfag (talk) 12:39, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
It's not obvious but /tg/ has a pretty good love of MSG. Metal Gear Vindicare is probably the most famous. There actually is the World of Metal Gear Solid RPG on Scribd. I haven't figured put how to download the actual file so bear with me. https://www.scribd.com/doc/190660004
We've also had a decent amount of threads about it, mostly quest threads, all within the last year or so http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=metal+gear
I say it at least worthy of a mention, at least as much as Adventure Time and probably more so than say Resident Evil or Fallout.--Hellsing612 (talk) 12:52, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
While quest threads can often have very little to do with traditional games at all, I cannot deny that there was in fact at least one RPG adaptation and /tg/-based OC based on it now, it seems. I'd just like to suggest one thing- there's no need to summarize the entire series or its characters within the confines of this article. People can go to the MGS wiki or elsewhere for that. Instead, focus on the RPG adaptations and how it directly links to /tg/. Don't make the same mistakes those articles have and get caught up in minutiae and attempting to encompass the entire clusterfuck of a plot within a single page.--Newerfag (talk) 15:36, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
I'll have to agree with Newerfag, however I'll go a step further, MG has always been terribly written. The writing is incredibly shitty, if you do decide to post the entire series and/or characters I'll rip the plot apart since all you need to do to have that series turn into a giant mess is to think for about 5 seconds. -- Triacom (talk) 19:12, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
Hah, never thought I'd see the day we agreed on matters like this. Seeing as he's doing exactly that, I'll let you do whatever you think is best with it. Who knows? It might even make me reconsider my first reaction of "get rid of it all and post a link to the Metal Gear wiki in its place".--Newerfag (talk) 23:06, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

The elephant in the room: MGS2, how snarky is too snarky[edit]

I see no way to explain Metal Gear Solid 2's story without a heavy dose of snark. Because this is were the story falls apart while Kojima was obviously trying try to emulate more popular franchises at the time.--Valvatorez (talk) 23:34, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

I say go nuts, if you or others think you've gone too far it can always be reined in afterwards. -- Triacom (talk) 07:05, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

Surprised the autism warning still exists[edit]

Knowing the precedent with what’s happened to the /pol/ and SJW pages, I’d’ve expected that thing to be deleted for being offensive. Still, point is somebody still needs to de-aspie this fucking page. 70.48.107.206 02:01, 8 February 2020 (UTC)

The SJW and /pol/ pages were not edited/protected because they were offensive, they were edited/protected because idiots kept spamming them with bullshit. -- Triacom (talk) 04:26, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
