Talk:Mortarch

From 1d4chan

We should probably mention that Mannfred's only a Mortarch because of fan approval/GW saying so, considering how Nagash treats others who've pissed him off way less (Kurdoss Valentian comes to mind, along with Shadespire) there's no reason at all for him to keep Mannfred as a Mortarch. -- Triacom (talk) 04:56, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

Whatever happens in AoS, Mannfred was still a Mortarch back in WFB so that shouldn't be removed. But aside from that, does Mortarch mean anything anymore? Originally it was supposed to be Nagash wanting nine new subordinates to lead his armies to replace the nine from his first crack at ruling the world, but GW didn't bother naming a new nine or going into any more than three of the originals, and according to the various wikis covering it Mannfred isn't listed as one in AoS anymore. I'm 99% certain its just a GW sales gimmick that has no actual in-universe meaning after End Times, given that a Dread Abyssal is the mark of a Mortarch but the two AoS ones don't actually ride them, and the fact that Manny's hoseback model hasn't been squatted means that's probably the one that is supposed to represent him and he hasn't been removed from the Mortarch kit because he's just part of the sprue. --Thannak (talk) 09:08, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
I think you misunderstood me, I didn't say we should remove his entry, I said there's no reason Nagash would keep him as a Mortarch, referring to AoS since I'm also referencing Kurdoss. As for being a Mortarch, yes it means something because it makes you the leader of an army. Mannfred leads the Legion of Night, which is still very much in the game. He also still has rules on his dread abyssal and could you direct me to a wiki that says he's no longer a mortarch? I'd like to see where they're getting that from. -- Triacom (talk) 13:18, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
