/tg/ related[edit]

Not only a meme (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/are-they-still-on-namek) but one that gets up fairly often when discussing many fictional works, particularly webcomics (of which many are /tg/ related). About as /tg/ related as Skub. --Thannak (talk) 10:01, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Not all memes are /tg/, and I have never seen this one discussed once. If this is so obviously /tg/-relevant, you should be able to point to a thread depicting its use, or post one yourself to see if it prompts discussion on the subject. Until such proof is seen, I will continue to consider this page irrelevant.--The Forgefather (talk)
I have to agree with Forgefather and Newerfag, if something is a meme, it is not automatically /tg/ relevant, in addition the ONLY page on 1d4chan to even reference Namek, is the meme page, and that's in name only. As of yet I haven't seen Namek used to describe anything outside of anime discussions, and apparently newerfag never has either. How about you leave the delete tag on until you can find a way to show that it is relevant in some way or other, besides just being some random meme? -- Triacom (talk) 07:08, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
I searched warosu for "namek", thinking that it surely isn't mentioned frequently, but was surprised. Most of the recent mentions are in the context of some kind of Dragon Ball quest, but there are also statements like "They're still on Namek" talking about Goblins (which is where the link that spawned this page came from) and the Horus Heresy (comparing Black Library's books to the Namek arc, contrasting with Forge World's stuff as moving forward). What do you all make of this? --AssistantWikifag (talk) 01:11, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
I wouldn't count comparing one story arc to another as invoking the meme itself if a poster goes out of his way to compare the Namek storyline to the HH storyline, as making that elucidation instead of just invoking the name demonstrates he isn't using it as a meme. That leaves the brief post in the OotS thread as the only possible reference to Namek in meme form, and that's just a possibility, not a guarantee. What you posted is not without interest, but all that I see it conclusively showing is that people who post on /tg/ also sometimes post on /a/.--The Forgefather (talk)
