Talk:Nobledark Imperium

Wouldn't the Warp gods be significantly less evil in this setting?[edit]

I mean its explicit canon that the Milky Way Warp gods are so batshit insane because the emotions that feed them come from a galaxy of batshit insane people.Skadooshbag (talk) 18:46, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

  • Think of it this way. Emotions power warp gods. Negative emotions are more potent but less sustainable than positive ones, because after a point they become self-destructive and you lose your food source. The Chaos Gods are all about more, they want more even if it's self-destructive and cancerous in doing so. In Nobledark the Chaos Gods are basically drug abusers trying to avoid coming down from their high and negative emotions are their drugs. The universe is shifting and it might shift in a way they don't like. The Age of Strife was their all-time peak, and they want to go back to that. Of course at the same time the Imperium bashing their head against Chaos in an eternal war produces plenty of war, plotting, despair, and pain for the Chaos Gods to feed on. Which is ironically at least part of the reason they maintain this, because the Chaos Gods don't want to be ignored, and they have the power to make everyone's life very miserable to get what they want. The Imperium and Chaos are in a twisted codependent relationship in Nobledark. Chaos needs to grind itself against the materials in war to maximize feeding potential, but at the same time the Imperium is dependent on Chaos (though they'd be loathe to admit it) into being enough of a threat that everyone else bands together to fight it. The Chaos Gods could change their ways and emphasize the positive aspects of their portfolio. Khorne could fulfill his Old One-created duty as Space Police, Nurgle could go back to being Steve Irwin in space, Slaanesh could turn into the Zen Space Buddha it was originally planned to be, and Tzeentch...has a lot of potential. Just as Nobledark!Isha, Cegorach, and the Void Dragon aren't psychotic. But the Chaos Gods won't, because they have other issues driving their behavior that they won't address.
