Talk:Promethean: The Created

From 1d4chan

2E is out now; there's going to be a lot of revision needed to the page now to account for all the changes and new stuff, to say the least. Anyone willing to help out with that? I'd do it myself but got a lot of RL stuff on my plate right now. --Newerfag (talk) 00:11, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

  • Going through the book now, might write some later. - Biggus Berrus (talk) 18:43, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

So let's get this going[edit]

Alright, I fucked up because I saved too early and didn't think to undo. I added a lot of stuff and gave the 1e stuff its own collapsables, making the page less long. Where to go from here? - Biggus Berrus (talk) 23:33, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

  • I'll be back in to add my own stuff when I can, but I seriously think that just divvying it up into Lineages, Refinements, Transmutations and Prometheans, having a generic "intro text" for each section, and then doing collapsibles for the 1e and 2e specific content, would probably make it a lot easier to read. That's what I was going to do before it all got twisted around on me whilst I was writing.--QuietBrowser (talk) 23:43, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
    • For reference, clones and Scions appear to be out, at least for 2e. I'm removing those bits for the moment, but if they end up appearing later they can always be put back in. Now that I think of it, Werewolf never got its own splat overview; perhaps that could come next when this is all done. --Newerfag (talk) 05:00, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

How important is the 1e/2e split?[edit]

This is just something that stuck out to me, so I felt it warranted mentioning: granted that I've only skimmed my copy of the 2e PDF so far, I've not sat down with it and the 1e corebook open and compared the two page by page, but just how different are the Lineages, Refinements and Transmutations in 2e to in 1e?

I mean, I understand that 2e's given up the Zeka Lineage to instead make Unfleshed part of the corebook, and likewise given us crunch for the Extempores when they were only fluff before. And they've made mention of extinct Lineages like the Hollow (Extempores of the American Dust Bowl), the Faceless (Extempores of the First World War) and the Prophets (the Fire Lineage before the Frankensteins). And then there's the Roles added to Refinements, and the Simple/Complex thing, I know that.

But... has the actual lore for any particular Lineage or Refinement changed that much? Couldn't we get away with just making the specific sections of the page, covering the general stuff, and noting any addition changes? For example, adding "The Zeky were introduced in the Saturnine Night sourcebook for 1e, but have yet to receive a 2e update" or "The Extempores were mentioned and described as existing in 1e's Magnum Opus sourcebook, but with 2nd edition they were given hard mechanics and updated to members of the corebook lineages" or "In 1st edition, Refinements required about a month of downtime and, preferrably, a tutor to switch between - except for the "instinctive" Refinments of Stannum (for everyone) and Centimanus (for Zeka), which a Promethean could switch to instantly, but in 2nd edition, (talk about simple/complex split)"?

I just think that this would probably be a lot easier, and make for a much neater page, than essentially repeating everything under 2e and 1e splits.--QuietBrowser (talk) 00:33, 14 August 2016 (UTC)

As far as I can see, not significantly so. The only real ones that come to mind are how Centimani are no longer able to progress on the Pilgrimage at all, and the addition of mortal alchemists as antagonists. Oh, and the concept of Firestorms. --Newerfag (talk) 05:56, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
