Talk:Storythread
Beginnings[edit]
This page is very much a work in progress at the moment. Hopefully in the next few days I'll be able to get all my pics in order and upload them, but there are several dozen so it could be a while.
-- I think I'm pretty much up to date now. If there are stories you remember from Storythreads in the past couple of weeks that aren't uploaded here, say so and I'll have a look - I have a lot of not-particularly-well-organised pics so it's possible that one or two have been overlooked.
General Practice[edit]
Can we set a limit of 1000 or 1100 for the width of the caps? It's generally a good idea to avoid forcing users with standard monitors to side-scroll.
- facepalm* my bad. I don't have a particularly large monitor, so it didn't occur to me that it could be a problem. It's not simply a question of image size, you can fix that by simply adjusting the zoom on your browser - the trouble being that then the text is quite small. Still legible though - so that's a workable solution. The problem is that since it's been put into an image format the text no longer adjusts to the size of the viewers monitor - it will always remain at the size it was when it was capped. I suppose in future I could resize the window before I take the screencap - though I'm not particularly a fan of that since to me and a lot of other people it would leave the images looking cramped and overly long vertically. Either way, the caps I've already taken aren't going to change - in fact the last thing that should be done is reducing the pixel count, since it won't change the number of words to a line but will make it harder to read at lower zoom levels.
In summary: adjust the zoom on your browser. I tried getting it to fit on my laptop and the text, while small, was still perfectly readable. If that doesn't work for some reason, leave a comment here. Either way, I'll be thinking about how to handle this in future, but for now you may have to accept some side-scrolling.--Chronicler (talk) 15:06, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
It's not a huge deal, just keep your window to about 1000px across when capping and it makes it far easier to read.
