Talk:Vampire: The Masquerade

Don't worry, I'll make this page soon enough. I was pretty much born for this. --MShI 21:59, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

EDIT WAR GO! - Ahri 22:05, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Needs moar real info. - Anonymous
Go for it, tiger. Fatum 23:12, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Don't worry, I'll do it. After a brief summary of the game setting and character-related stuff, I think I'll add a section of that TRUE/FALSE stuff about vampires. That's a good introduction. --m/ShI 16:22, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
We've got a vampire article if you want to go into specifics about vampire psychology. --Myomoto 16:30, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, I meant specifically about this game. As for psychology, I don't think much needs to be said here other than the usual trend of psychological development from "hey I'm still pretty human" to "MAN I KICK ASS" to ennui. Also, I'm definitely going to make a note about the importance of, you know, INSANITY in the game, since the downward spiral is definitely a main theme. --m/ShI 16:35, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
   Still no content

No love or mention for the PC adaptation? No, not the God awful VTM: Redemption, but Bloodlines. Even if it did suffer from KOTOR II syndrome (I.E. What's and ending?) Not to mention VTM:B did to Troika what Soulstorm did to Iron lore. Update: Heck, I'll add it. - KSB26

Redemption was good for its time, I mean, multiplayer with GM mode for host? Come on, give some credit. --SaltyMan (talk) 19:57, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

I'm finally updating it somewhat, give more description --IconOfEvi (talk) 01:44, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

Salubri[edit]

So, questions, why no Salubri? if I were to edit them in should they go into Bloodlines or Clan?-emmens(7/26/2016

Bloodline, that's how V20 treats them. - Biggus Berrus (talk) 21:55, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

How are we doing?[edit]

Any more suggestions we missed? --SaltyMan (talk) 13:10, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Stuff that we'll still need IMO:
  • Something on the Camarilla.
  • Stuff on the Anarchs.
  • Talk on Ghouls and Revenants.
  • Hunters (as in The Hunters Hunted sourcebook).
  • Numina and True Faith.
That's for starters. - Biggus Berrus (talk) 15:51, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Sadly, though I'm a vampire player, Numina and True faith from the redemption game is NOWHERE TO BE FOUND DAMNIT. Anarchs I can do, ghoul and revenants are a OK, Hunter is ok Cammy is ok but numina sadly no, though I can liken it to linear magic. --SaltyMan (talk) 17:04, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Alright. I added a bunch more images just now, and feel free to write what you can. If you want to know more about Numina and True Faith, you could go look for a copy of The Hunters Hunted II for the most recent info. - Biggus Berrus (talk) 17:06, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

There is no information regarding Tal'Mahe'Ra and Ashirra.[edit]

This must be remedied asap.

5e[edit]

So the stuff covering 5e is kinda blown out of proportion and incorrect. First, according to the Paradox CEO, WW was always going to get folded into Paradox and act to control their licensing writes while creating very little. Like a lot of IP out there there is less money in the original content (that is pen and paper rpgs, novels and comics) than video games, moves, tv shows and other things of that nature. The last three books they wrote were always probably going to be the last three they wrote, maybe the last three of four (a Sabbat splat or something apparently). They are in fact owned by a video game company, not a publishing company, as were their previous owners (who had similar plans). Most WoD since the Gehenna shit has been published under license by outside parties (namely Onyx Path). Worth noting that WW staff have joined OPP and Modi and that Modi has finished publishing or republishing the 5e stuff. As for damaging the brand, 5e has won awards and is one of the best selling rpgs on drivethryrpg, for what thats worth. So what WW by their fuck up was advance a corporate time table by a few months. The international incident thing is super melodramatic, its not as bad as what the Chechyan government us doing to journalists in Russia, andit is essentially a province or state in Russia, not an independent country (as the article kinda of suggests, to be fair the it is stated to be a federal subject of Russia, but that is not explained and someone unfamiliar with the Russian system or governments will probably not understand that). Hell, not as bad as when Mark Rein Hagen had Russian tanks driving through his lawn (but thats his own fault for living in Georgia). I have neither heard nor seen any rumours about WW staff being sued by the Chechyan government (and they don’t really have a defamation or legal case in any country with laws), I have seen rumours about them threatening the lives of those staff members, which goes in line with them threatening the lives of journalists and gay-rights activists (which has happened). It also fails to mention that the original reasoning for the chapter about Chechnya being because the author of had a gay friend that was murdered by said government and it was a (poorly considered) attempt to bring attention to it. Compared to a lot of their other shit (like having actual fucking Nazis such as Himmler in Berlin by Night) its not that bad, but retards online blow it way out of proportion. Wanna make fun of WW for being stupid, sure. But lets keep it honest and keep the context in, and remember that who is writing shit in poor taste and who is murdering people. Old Man Logan, from his iPad.

Himmler was Tremere anti, was never, ever mentioned again after 1e (heck they literally retconned Capone being a vamp at all in revised) and was likely a literal ooc reason the Tremere anti were wiped out with no survivors for the same reason WW did a mea culpa about how terrible Gypsies was in 2e

Bloodlines 2[edit]

For those wondering how the discussion came about, before the edit that references that discussion, it's simple - I wrote here, on the discussion-page first, so that the discussion would be ready and done the instant I hit "submit" on the changes.

So, about dat BL2-bit.. Woa there, friend. Changing the bits under BL2 was not a bad idea, in itself (since it literally contained ad hominem - which just plain isn't part of any good, genuine, discussion), so kudos there, but... Holy cow, that went too far. Literally removing the bit about Cara Ellisons historia with video-games, and what's possibly even worse, outright changing it to something else, that is far more positive? Now that smacks of historical revisionism, and outright censoring and/or wanting to lie. I do not find that to be even in the slightest bit ok - hence my own edit. As to the trigger-warnings... It's still quite ridiculous, to have warnings about horrible subject matter, in a horror-game, that is already rated "M for Mature" - that is literally the rating, right there, on the box (not to mention the expanded ratings that the ESRB uses, which literally has icons on the back of the box/on the digital storefronts, for things like "horror", "drug use", "sexual content", and so on; it's good that it states that it's an option, as that true as far as I'm aware, but it *is* pretty damn derpy, hence that edit.

So, that's my start of a discussion, as, if I suspect one thing, it's that someone will come in and be all emotional and upset at me, for putting in something less biased, haha. Let's discuss!

Sincerely yours, incassum (talk) 19:13, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

For one, MCA is still working on Wrath of the Righteous. --Agiletek (talk) 20:52, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Who (or what) is this MCA? If that means Chris Avellone, it'd seem ridiculous to start using an abbreviation that no-one else is using, as if to deliberatley obscure; but, presuming it does mean Chris Avellone, then aight, a casual search seems to indicate that he was on the team, and that the team has said nothing to the effect of that he isn't, anymore, so it should remain "most/many/a lot of big-name studios", as opposed to "all" (but let it be noted, that Owlcat Games are *not* a big-name studio - though, that's overtly detailed, and it would be misleading to say "all big-name studios", since the implication would be, "all studios", so, "most/many/a lot" seems to be the most truthful here, it'd seem). incassum (talk) 13:08, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/dying-light-waylanders-vampire-bloodlines-2-devs-i/1100-6478828/ might be damage control, might be true, who knows - business be business. Still works on Pathfinder - https://wccftech.com/owlcat-games-shocked-by-allegations-against-avellone-but-wont-rush-a-decision-just-yet/ . At least someone has enough grey matter not to fire people based on accusatory tweets and vague apologies. --5.18.234.56 13:13, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
