4E didn't drop the Vancian style. If anything it's more like the style in Dying Earth than older editions of D&D were. Ritual Magic, Cantraps like the at-wills, etc.
- Depends on how you look at it. Sure, at-wills work like cantraps and there are rituals but the core of the Vancian system in my opinion is the spellbook/memorization schtick. You write spells in your spellbook and then imprint some of them in your mind for the day untill you cast them. Edit as you please. --Teataine 10:08, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
