Talk:Vore
OK. Why is this a thing. On this wiki of all things? - Ben (talk) 10:52, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
- Maybe scroll to the 'Just...why is this on /tg/?' section? --58.162.223.230 12:08, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
This really doesn't need to be here. The connection is flimsy, based on shit fanart and an obscure 40k story. The same argument could be made for a million different things, eg. fart fetish because of Nurgels toxic gases (Don't add that shit to the wiki, I swear to god). The page only exists been added because someone can't keep their dick in their pants. - SabbatMartyr
- Agreed. I'm thinking here to actually blank the page or ask the mods to delete it. I'm asking again why is this a thing on this page. It doesn't make sense. - Ben (talk) 22:18, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
I'll speak up in this page's mild defense: Given /tg/'s nature as a *chan board, we need to cover a few of the more common *chan subcultures, because it occasionally comes up in other contexts on /tg/. Similarly subcultures that are hard to defend and get referenced frequently include Furrys, Monstergirls, and My Little Ponys. Just consider it another meme or horrid subculture, and move on. Not defending this iteration of the article, mind, just the need for something like this to exist. Saarlacfunkel (talk) 23:03, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- I reluctantly added this page because vore is a /d/-migrant element that actually does show up on /tg/ pretty frequently (seriously, start a thread about giants, lamias or sphinxes, you WILL get people talking about vore - there was literally a thread on the angel lillend that hit the bump limit like 3-4 times because it was mostly being propped up by vorefags) and it's not exactly a self-explanatory thing. Since 1d4chan exists as a wiki of and about /tg/, I figured some kind of explanation was due. I'll stand by whatever decisions the mods make, but I added it because it seemed reasonable, however gross I find the subject matter.--QuietBrowser (talk) 23:07, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- THEN MAKE A SMALL NOTE ON /d/'s sub-page in the Board-tans page instead of making an article. It should be contained in the image boards instead here making people know more about this shit. - Ben (talk) 23:32, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- If we wanted to stop people running into this sorta thing, we'd have to somehow stop voreposters hijacking threads, and given my experience with fetishes turning brains off? Good fucking luck. I mean we have a Felarya blurb on the Monstergirls page, for fuck's sake.

There's no amount of babyraging that'll change the fact there's little point in hiding the fact it exists on /tg/ - undesirable as it may be it's seemingly the logical conclusion of the board's rep as /d/-lite. --LGX-000 (talk) 03:10, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
I've moved the sheer horror to the bottom and made as much of it collapsible as possible, in hopes of keeping things slightly less nauseating to the unsuspecting. Saarlacfunkel (talk) 01:07, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- Yeah, I feel like it's a question of how deep we actually go with the subject matter at this point, as opposed to pretending it isn't a thing. --LGX-000 (talk) 03:41, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- Voting for both the blanking of this page and removal of any link to it along with removing the subject completely from the wiki's database. - Ben (talk) 10:45, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
Cool, you're outvoted. Plus we have a fair amount of shit that'd be considered more objectively gross, so it'd be extra silly to actually go through with that. --2600:1700:19C0:2760:209B:C513:4C6C:40E5 18:16, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
And no, this is not me trying to stack votes or anything, just stating that you're currently the only one who's expressed that, and the way you're going on about it isn't likely to change the minds of people who seem to share a similar disgust for the most part. --2600:1700:19C0:2760:209B:C513:4C6C:40E5 18:18, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- Yeah no. Blatant sexual fetishes are a whole different thing. - Ben (talk) 19:26, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- Can anyone explain why this has its own page and not just a mention on /d/'s page? When the "Why is this here" section is larger than the article, it's not a good article. -- Triacom (talk) 20:52, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- It is about why it is on /tg/ not why it is on this website. --2602:306:B88B:FB60:25C5:BB25:DBDE:195F 21:47, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- Which is something Triacom is pretty well aware of, I imagine.

- I suppose I wouldn't mind subsectioning it, but I think there's a fair amount of reactive screeching involved in the initial backlash here - for instance, you at least try to FINISH hashing things out on the talk page before you go running to an admin and try to force hands via flimsy rationale. That bothers me infinitely more than this being badly written - the latter isn't AS hard to solve (on paper), while the former ignores that, again, we have a bunch of magical realm-tier shit on here as is, some of which is MUCH worse than this in terms of subject matter.
- Like Sarlaac indicated, I'm not even defending this particular iteration of the page, so much as I am pointing out that the argument for deletion being made sucks shit and is currently being handled with all the tact of your average elementary schooler. --LGX-000 (talk) 21:52, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
- I'm fully aware of why it's on the wiki, apparently you didn't read what I wrote and just assumed. Why does it have its own page? Why is there a need for it to have an entry justifying its existence that takes up 90% of the page? There's no reason for it at all. Put it on /d/'s page, add a redirect, problem solved. -- Triacom (talk) 00:02, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- It has it's own page because it's a thing that somebody might need to be introduced to (to misquote XKCD, they're one of today's unlucky 10000), and the current description of the overlap between /tg/ and the subject matter is large enough to be worth its own page. I count the main section as "coverage of what overlap exists", not "justification of it's existence". Our article on Cats, now that's an article that's 90% attempt at justification of it's own existence. Saarlacfunkel (talk) 04:30, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- That's what redirects are for. As I just said in the paragraph you moved, add a redirect to /d/, problem solved. Anybody searching for it will still find it just by searching vore if you do it right. If the Subject is two paragraphs, as the opening is all that the subject matter is and the rest is trying to justify it, then it does not need its own page. -- Triacom (talk) 04:40, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- Moved the necessary information to /d/ page, need to clean it up. However, I'm having the same problem with moving that I have with linking /d/ and /pol/ - the pages aren't recognized as existing. If someone else could redirect or teach me how to do this (which would be nice considering I've been using an external link for /pol/ on my user page up till now), that'd be nice. --Kracked Mynd (talk) 22:29, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
- Probably a cache thing, KM. --LGX-000 (talk) 02:20, 5 August 2019 (UTC)

...Wow, how did you fuck THAT up. --LGX-000 (talk) 03:46, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- Don't get me wrong, I'm great at fucking up simple tasks, but I'm getting an error message (I don't have permission because it doesn't exist). I genuinely don't know what I'm doing wrong, redirects shouldn't be this hard. --Kracked Mynd (talk) 03:51, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- edit: Ha, I'm a dumbass, I need to blank the page first.
- Still didn't work. Posting the entirety into my dump subpage, gonna let someone smarter than me fugue this out.--Kracked Mynd (talk) 03:58, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- Thank god Anon knew how to do this. If anyone needs to access information to put on /d/, it can be found here. --Kracked Mynd (talk) 10:13, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- If anyone's curious, the reason it's harder to make it work is because the backslashes fuck with links if you don't account for them. -- Triacom (talk) 13:34, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- How do you account for them? I don't know how to link them any differently. --Kracked Mynd (talk) 14:25, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
