Talk:Warhammer 40,000/Tactics/Blood Angels(8E)
I can confirm about the Str 10 hammer. Went to my friendly local Warhammer Store this weekend (long night trying to find a citadel paint stand, don't ask) and each of the owner and guy who runs local tournies confirmed that any modifiers from the weapons occur last after auras or psyker buffs with almost every fa/tg/uy in the store reading over the ruling and coming to the same decision. So I was wrong! Str 10 hammer with red thirst everybody. I realize half the internet is hearsay, but reading through the rules and having it explained to me I'm fairly convinced it's (base+aura+psychic)*weapon.
On a different note, something I thought of when I got home, Death Masks: are the effects cumulative? Like could you pile in 10 Sanguinary Guard for a -10 leadership on an HQ model and then have an allied Dark Angels librarian Interromancy the HQ's brains out? Funny if yes. Reasonable if no.

Slamguinius[edit]
Every other edit, it feels like, is someone changing it from Slamguinius to Captain Smash or back again. Fucking stop. Stop now. It's Slamguinius. Nobody cares that he's a Captain and not a Chapter Master. Fucking stop.
agreed, I am biased since I wrote the goddamn Chapter Master Slamguinius article--but in my defense I took the build and the name from more than one forum thread on warseer and dakkadakka

I don't even think of him as a CM, but as a Captain. Hell, I did a double take when I saw *Chapter Master* Slamguinius (hey, but wait, he's a Captain). But Slamguinius and Banguinius are the two names that stuck with me the best, and distinguish him as a Blood Angel and nobody else. Captain Smash or Captain McSmashypants or any of those other names lack both the punnyness and the blatant reference to the fact that he's a son of the Angel.
Can we maaaaybe compromise and call him Captain Slamguinius, or Slamguinius, no title? I don't really care, I just want the edit war to stop?

Here was my logic behind the Chapter Master bit so you can see my mental process:
- the Chapter Master Slamguinius is when you expend CP on the stratagem to give him the black rage and pick the warlord trait to give him extra damage--which is the major build that most people use.
- The Captain is when you don't give him the black rage so you can give him the gift of foresight along with a lightning-claw and a chainsword--which is a newer one that's a reaction to all the xenos codices coming out
- that's really it, the chapter master and captain difference was just to provide a distinction between the two major builds we use.
if it still doesn't jive with you, just let me know, I really do appreciate you being cool about it and bring it up in the Discussion section first :)

I think RAGEWINGS is the nickname given to Horde-Killer build, as noted in the MURDERWINGS page. I consider Slammy to be two connected builds, the angry Captain with his hammer and shield and relic jetpack, with the warlord traits (which, IIRC, get chosen at the beginning of the game) more being situational. Does the enemy have lots of things with 4 Wounds, or a single model where the difference between three damage and four will require a noticeable number of more hits, (20 wounds will take 5 unsaved attacks for an artisan hammer, 7 for a regular one)? Go with Artisan. Lots of small arms fire? Take Foresight).

Nah, I'd be cool dropping the Title or just sitting with Captain--it really doesn't hurt me at all to do that :) I would however be pretty adamant about keeping the hammer build as Slamguinius and the choppy build as RAGEwings, no only because I wrote that first article and contributed to the RAGEwings but like you said at the beginning anything other than Slamguinius just kills the joke because of the loss of the pun.
Cheers

How to change to assault doctrine in turn 2???[edit]
How to change to assault doctrine in turn 2???
Cheat the fuckin system and get strangled by your opponent seems the most likely way. Or you could, idk, just use your fuckin bolters for Sanguinius's sake.
Tidying up the page[edit]
Admittedly I'm not in a position with my practical knowledge of 40k to attest to anything; but I think it would be worthwhile, very worthwhile, to go back and update many of the sections of the Blood Angels page. There are several sections, such as Primaris marines referencing a lack of cheap transport despite the fact that the Impulsor exists now, that need to be updated.
While I commend whoever went ahead and updated the content for Blood of Baal, there's a lot of cleanups that needs to be done beyond just putting in new information.
