Talk:Warhammer 40,000/Tactics/Chaos Daemons(7E)

From 1d4chan

With the release of the new models and rules for screamers and flamers, as well as the update to the Daemon USR, this page needs a lot of work in order to provide at least a decent tactica for our beleaguered Chaos Daemons players and CSM players taking allies.

Lack of Eternal Warrior is a very important change. It should at least be mentioned. --Gufu 05:18, 3 September 2012 (BST)

Requesting help with Hellflayers of Slaanesh and Seeker Chariots, possibly by people who've used them.

It wasn't whining. It was a legitimate piece of advice, based on the old codex. But, since the new codex came, Daemons did lose Eternal Warrior. It wasn't crying, it was just outdated. Dok (talk)

Hey guys, Apocalypse 2013 is out. Someone, revise sections on demon lords.

Reading advice to take the primaris power a lot but, according to chaos physic focus, all marked daemons already have their primaris so surely you don't have the option? As a new player learning the rules I found this really confusing.

Restrictions[edit]

  • There is no restriction on the units being from the same codex or from Codex - Chaos Daemons, meaning you can effectively take a Herald of Khorne from Codex - Khorne Daemonkin (preferably on a Juggernaut with Greater Locus of Fury) and 8 units of Flesh Hounds from Codex - Khorne Daemonkin. Giving you true Fearless, Bloodtithe AND the +1 attack and 12" Rage from the Murderhost.
  • It is highly unlikely you would get away with this anywhere but a friendly game, especially considering the Demonic Incursion detachment is meant to help with demonic instability so it makes little sense for it to apply to units in another codex, rather it is meant to help non-daemonkin bloodletters up their attacks. Maybe it might get FAQ'ed but unless you are just taking the formation alone as an ally don't try to make a demon decurion with it, you will be very hard-pressed to rules lawyer it as instability is fundemental with classic daemons.
  • It´s pretty clear that you can do this, just like all SM can use the Raven Guard sub-formations as long as they don´t take the main detachment. RAI is a slippery slope, you won´t get anywhere with that. Try to auger the reason why infantry should be armed with Strength D flamer weapons. You can´t just go an invent new rules. I never said I would make a decurion with them, quite frankly I think the formation in itself is worth fielding. Perhabs it should be posted in Khorne Daemonkin tactics instead, I can see how it was confusing. The decurion has a restriction, the sub formation does not. I do think you should take this to the talk pages or simply delete it, it´s kind of fun to read people disagreeing in a living document.

Crunch[edit]

There seems to be a lot written here... Inquisitor Sasha Ehrenstein des Ordo Scharzenkommando (ЯR) 05:40, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

Tactics here are pretty severely out of date. Filling out more recent (often competitive) tactics should be a goal.

I did a few things here and there, mostly bringing stuff from the old 6E page which I updated thinking it was the 7E page - my bad.
In the meantime, can I get a clarification regarding DoS and rending: does it affect ranged weapon profiles? Why or why not? Is there a source for this info? Tarbosaur (talk) 17:06, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
UPDATE: okay, so I think I got the bulk of it updated. How we doin'? Tarbosaur (talk) 01:08, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
The Rending USR specifically calls out melee attacks from models with it or with weapons that have it, and shooting attacks with weapons that have it. In other words, no, the Rending USR on a model does not grant its shooting Rending. SparkSovereign (talk) 19:59, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
Why? Source? Tarbosaur (talk) 18:02, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
it says as much in the Rending rule itself in the rulebook, melee weapons and models with the rule are covered under the same sentence, shooting weapons get their own --Dark Angel 2020 (talk) 20:38, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Redirect[edit]

Can we get a redirect to 7th Edition tactics please?

Greater brass scorpion of khorne[edit]

Can daemons take it? And if so could someone write it up, my opinions and tactics are often wrong and unliked.

Question[edit]

Would you guys mind if I added a section on HH? Daemons can be taken in a Word Bearers army that contains certain special characters as an allied detachment, so I'll just put in a short paragraph for that. If no one objects of course.

Expensive deamons[edit]

I am assuming the article is out of date considering it mentions how expensive deamons are. Deamons are now relatively cheap due to their multipart plastic kits coming out, 10 plastic units for $35 canadian. that is among the best prices for squads out there, you can almost afford 2 kits (20 dudes) for the price of 5 space marine assault troopers, or 5 terminators.
