Talk:Warhammer 40,000/Tactics/Daemons of the Ruinstorm (30k)
General Reminder[edit]
Unit descriptors do not help unless you're describing the role that the unit should be fulfilling. This for example:
- Ruinstorm Daemon Beasts: Base unit of 3 beasts and room to grow for up to 10. Beasts are stronger, faster, and tougher than Lesser Daemons. May only take two emanations. The Quicksilver Speed emanation is completely wasted on this unit.
Is not helpful in doing that. Anyone who has the book or has the stats already know that they start at 3 but can go up to 10, they know they can only take two emanations, and they know they're stronger, faster and tougher than Lesser Daemons. About the only thing that's useful information is that Quicksilver Speed is useless on them, but it doesn't say what would be a good idea to add to them, such as the Sundering Fangs option to ID Marines and Custodes from turns 1-4 as a quick example (possibly combined with Crushing Claws or the Miasma of Rot from when they inevitably become S4 and possibly S3). Another combo would be Miasma of Rot along with Stupefying Musk so that they have the chance to hit and kill Marines without the Marines being able to strike in return. Given how relatively cheap the unit is, you could have several of them hanging about ready to charge into units your heavier hitters are eying. When you do the Beasts can soak up the overwatch fire and knock their stats down, then you can charge in with the heavier things to finish the job.
Speaking as somebody who's played Death Guard with allied Night Lords, that kind of combo usually works out really well for you, and that's all tactical advice that isn't readily apparent by just reading the stats and rules and then writing them on their unit entries. -- Triacom (talk) 01:22, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
