Talk:Warhammer 40,000/Tactics/Renegades and Heretics(7E)

From 1d4chan

Why do these guys suck? I love this list- its fun and fluffy! And arming guardsmen with cc weapons is pretty hilarious.

Building the army now in 6th edition and I don't believe this army isn't competitive, I don't see where the hate/despair is coming from in this army. Also: Why are units like the Minotaur and tarantula missing from the page? And c'mon anons! We need strategies/tactics here! Not to mention on how to collect the army!

  • Minotaur and Tarantulas aren't in the army list any more, that's why.

Imperial Armour 13 remake![edit]

Hello! I've started to re-do this article according to the new Army List that was published in Imperial Armour Vol. 13: War Machines of Lost and Damned. Feel free to comment you thoughts on this new dex. I can not devote my full day to editing this article, so it will be updated each day with small bits.

  • Hey, I don't have the book and I may be wrong but I would have thought that with the new Veteran squad in Troops-there would be noo more Disciples. Am I just plain wrong
    • Veterans and Disciples are both in there. Vets getting WS4 and Pistol+CCW as standard in Troops, whilst Disciples get BS4, lasgun/shotgun and the Fanatic rule in Elites. Both are quite customisable, though Vets can buy their choice of special rule only two dudes may be upgraded to carry a special weapon/vox-caster/sigil, whilst Disciples can take a heavy weapon, special weapon and a voxcaster so are slightly more customisable if not for the special rule option. But Disciples can still take Carapace armour.

Just a thought, should we split the articles, as IA 13 TECHNICALLY dosent over rules the SoV stuff, and there is a lot of confusion in the article ATM

  • While it specifically doesn't overrule the old Siege of Vraks stuff, those rules go all the way back to 3rd edition and are very much out of date. The old 5th Edition update was only a stop-gap, which is actually no longer available directly from their website. I think it's quite safe to assume that "Renegades & Heretics: Defenders of Vraks/Servants of Slaughter/Servants of Decay [3rd Edition]" have all been rolled into this singular "Renegades & Heretics [7th Edition]" Besides, the older tactica article for everything prior to 6th edition is still on this site--Dark Angel 2020 (talk) 17:50, 19 October 2014 (UTC)

IF thats the case, we should remove the SoV stuff, because they are different lists, and if you have both in one place, it becomes a bit of a cluster fuck

  • Sorry but I actually don't understand what you're talking about...the page has already been mostly purged of the old SoV references that it now pretty much accounts for IA13 exclusively, with perhaps some minor relics in the Fast/Heavy Support sections, which can easily be changed. --Dark Angel 2020 (talk) 06:03, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

Ahh fair enough, when i was looking at it it was part way though, so i wasen't sure what was happening with the SoV stuff. apologies.

  • All of the SoV stuff is due to be updated by mid February 2015, in a single book. From what I can see, it's very much the same as the Renegades list, although they've lost their access to aircraft and appear to be getting a new FOC and probably different Warlord traits. Stay tuned. --Murdaface (talk) 08:30, 09 February 2015 (PST)

So, does anyone know if there are any pdf scans of this book out on the web? Partially so that I can add my thoughts to he tactica but also so that I am able to do up a list and play with this awesome army. Cheers

  • vk has most of the current IA books, in English for download. Keep in mind that none of their pdfs have had the OCR done or have linked Table of Contents, and 11 & 12 have some creative pagination, but they're for the most part safe files.--Murdaface (talk)

We have basic tactics up. No game-breaking combos figured out yet, but any feedback would be appreciated.--Murdaface (talk)

  • Unspeakable Horrors on a Plane are a serious Dick move just realized that that won't work, especially since you can make them Objective Secured--Murdaface (talk) 19:13, 05 February 2015 (PST)
  • Generally, Valkyrie are your best Transports, even if they cannot deny objectives.--Murdaface (talk) 07:54, 12 February 2015 (PST)

What to Buy & List Organization are up.--Murdaface (talk) 13:15, 06 February 2015 (PST)

Special Characters[edit]

Beyond not being mentioned in the army list, is there any reason why the three special Vraks characters should not be permitted in Renegades and Heretics armies? The rules for them are given in Warzone: Vraks in the latest IA:Apocalypse book which says what army lists they can be attached to, since they can also be included in Chaos Space Marine armies. --Dark Angel 2020 (talk) 06:17, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

  • After checking - Even when using the argument that "Defenders of Vraks", "Servants of Slaughter", "Servants of Decay" army lists no longer exists, Arkos the Faithless is simply listed as "...is a HQ choice for a Codex Space Marines army or Renegades and Heretics army" --Dark Angel 2020 (talk) 07:25, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
    • The revised version of the Siege of Vraks allegedly no longer separates servants of slaughter and servants of decay while also saying that its lists should be treated as an extension of IA13. Given that the three special characters are in there, doesn't that re-enable the three characters for Renegades and Heretics? (I don't have the book myself so I could be wrong) TiamatRoar (talk) 20:28, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
