Talk:White Dwarf
Index of WD Articles?[edit]
So, the page itself talks about how White Dwarf started as a gaming magazine that covered multiple games, then went through a stint when it covered all kinds of mechanical goodies (like variant armies, dogs of war, etc) for Games Workshop's games, and then devolved to a generic painting guide and advertisement for shiny new models. So, would it be fitting to use this page to make up a big index of all the "good issues" and discuss what kind of crunchy content they featured? After all, White Dwarf was where the githyanki first appeared, as well as PC stats for the Lizardfolk and the Brownie, and there's an article index for the first 100 articles over here: https://index.rpg.net/display-search.phtml?firstsearch=1&type=normal&sort=year&key=magazine&match=loose&value=White+Dwarf so... why not? This wiki does pride itself on its Warhammer related articles, after all...--QuietBrowser (talk) 09:40, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
- A while back I actually did have a small list of the "good" issues and what they had in them, but it became unnecessary and I lost it since it's time-consuming to go through them and both the numbering and contents are a little fucked up. The UK and US issues are numbered differently and sometimes have entirely different articles, as well as one lacking rules that appeared in the other, that sort of thing. I'm not against it at all but if you were to make it I'd recommend something along the lines of breaking them down to which game they cover, then listing the magazines in order of number (while having (US) or (UK) in the name somewhere to show which one you mean), then having what the article is about.
- Here's an example of what I mean:
- Warhammer 40k:
- White Dwarf 103 (UK): Article name here, other article name here.
- White Dwarf 107 (UK): Article name here, other article name here.
- Warhammer 40k:
- It's a clusterfuck but that's also the best thing I could come up with when I made my short list, it's also why my short list remained a short list (I could've included a lot more onto it, if I had cared to). It also became unnecessary for me after a while because I just ended up remembering which issues had what I was looking for and that's another reason the list went missing. -- Triacom (talk) 10:04, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
