The themes of the suits, and consistency[edit]
Wasn't it decided later that Hearts = Accuracy, since it would 'aim for the heart', as it were? I've seen it go both ways as far as Diamonds and Spades for Speed and Trickshots, but I thought it was always Clubs = Power and Hearts = Accuracy.
Taking Up This Proud Legacy[edit]
- Is anyone still working on Wild Cards? My group and I have put a deal of thought into the world and setting, and would like to continue to fill out this article. /tg/ doesn't seem to be interested in it anymore... any objections? Anyone else want in?
- This is one of the best things to come out of /tg/ in quite a while, and I'm still all for continuing it. I've written a few of the stories, and I've tried to come up with gameplay, even though it hasn't worked out very well.
- Hi, Deschain here. I wrote a little bit about the world before I got distracted by a girl. If anyone is still interested I will fill out the world some more if anyone wants me to do so. I am not so hot on mechanics, but I do have a solid view of the world that was kind of marginalized by thread posters.
Alternate Ruleset[edit]
I have been working on an alternate ruleset for this setting for a while now. A link for it is on this page. However, I would love to put the rules onto the wiki directly, just for the convenience of those who just plain don't like PDFs. Are there any objections? --JSCervini 10:51, 29 October 2011 (BST)
Reorg work[edit]
I've been busy reorganizing all of the Wild Cards pages. There is now a template, {{Template:Wild_cards}} that provides much better navigation options. If you create new pages for Wild Card, I'd appreciate it if you add the template to the page, and add the page to the template. While hopping around with the random page button I've found more than a few stories about card that were orphaned, and not mentioned in the stories page. If you find or know about any similarly fated pages, add them to the template or let me know and I'll handle it. Some cards have more than one story. To solve this and keep the template from getting cluttered, I've made intermediate pages. for example, Queen of Hearts used to be one story (an orphaned one at that, missing from the stories page). Now that story is on it's own page, Queen_of_Hearts:_'The_Bloody_Queen', and the queen of hearts page has a link to that, and another story, Queen_of_Hearts:_'Bloody_Mary' I'm also working with a friend to write some more stories, filling in the cards that don't have anything yet. Here's hoping somebody else still cares about this setting besides me and him. --Hiddenkrypt (talk) 20:27, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Your text messages thing didn't work (new guy)[edit]
Hello, I too am a fan and Dealer(GM) of a wild card circle that I've been running for about 6 months. Hearing that you want to finish the stories and perfect gameplay means you, a friend(soon to be Dealer(GM))and I have a common goal and wanted to inform you me and a friend completed the list of cards, however haven't made their stories line up with the online cannon, but do have abilities if you want to use them to finish the online deck. Also I am working on a rule book(word doc) and creating a campaign book of the campaign I made up and currently running with a group of friends. (Sorry for grammar errors doing this on my iphone so it's a bitch lol)
TL:DR; Short story is that we have finished the deck, given them there names and abilitys. He has ran several campaigns each have gone great so far. Along with working on a rulebook and campaign book,we also plan on running more campaigns that are set all throughout history with different decks. 2/9/2015
- Hey, sounds awesome. For future reference, you don't need to make a new topic section for each paragraph (I changed your 'short story' section to put your comment together, it was too broken up before. Also, if you put four tilde (~) characters in a row, or press the signature button above the editor window, the wiki will automatically put a timestamp there (I do this at the end of every talk page comment I write). If you're logged in when you comment, it'll include your name. As for your work on Wild Cards, I look forward to seeing it! Don't be afraid to edit and create pages on the wiki with your content, the whole point of a wiki is to be bold with your edits. Others can revert or fix your work if they see a need for it. When it comes to the 'Canon' of the guns, you don't actually have to worry too much. It's pretty clear that a given card won't always be the same. Way I see it, sometimes when the dealer takes a card back, he changes it. Just take a look at the two stories for The Jack of Clubs. One features a .357 derringer, and the other a big handcannon, each with different powers. Eventually I want to cleanup this talk page so it's not such a mess, and below I've set up a guideline for multiple stories. --Hiddenkrypt (talk) 14:46, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
Guidelines for new stories of the cards[edit]
There are a few cards already that have multiple stories written about them. Rather than putting every single one in the template table for Wild Cards, here's what I propose as a guideline (and what I've already done for things like Jack_of_Clubs, King_of_Hearts, Queen_of_Hearts.
The page name for any specific story about a specific gun should be "<value> of <suit>: <nickname of gun>".
The pages named just "<value> of <suit>" should be reserved for lists of the relevant stories, and it's these lists that should be linked on template:Wild_cards --Hiddenkrypt (talk) 14:46, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
