Can't really do anything with the House Dagoth codex at the moment, so I decided to brush up on my Hammerfell lore and jot some resources down to help whoever ends up working on the Tombas of Hammerfell codex.(Which probably won't be me. Not by myself at least.) --Dagoth Guy 11:38, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

You've probably seen this already - Tamriel Rebuilt Hammerfell Critters. It's concept art for some beasts that might be found in Hammerfell. While some of them are dubiously canon, it's still possible to make some units based off of one of these. Lizard riders, maybe some kind of manticore trainers, maybe throw in one of those mountain-beasts just because. Good food for thought. --FatherDuke 23:15, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Yep, already seen it, but thanks anyways. Any input at all is apreciated. The art from Tamriel Rebuilt was actually what got me into Hammerfel lore in the first place, which turned out to be a lot more fleshed out than I thought it would be. But yeah, anyways:

  • Packlizards: I thought about including Packlizards, but they looked sort of like they'd be too slow be be used as anything other than pack animals. If we were really pressed for units, then I suppose we could include some sort of Dunedweller Lizardriders, but they seem to me like they'd be somewhat unfeasable as warbeasts, so I don't think we should do that unless we have to.
  • Monster units: I'm not too sure about the cannon-osity of including random monster trainers. However, there was some talk about hyena tamers in Skaven, now that I think about it, so I guess those could go in.
  • Food-for-Thought: Looking back at that page, the Desert Spirit gives me an idea for some sorta Dunedweller Spirit Shaman guys. Thanks for reminding me of this stuff.

Also, you should totally give all Ansei the option to halve number of attacks to hit at like S8. --FatherDuke (talk) 03:43, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

Oh, now thats a good idea. I'll go add that in now. --Dagoth Guy (talk) 15:54, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

Here is a summery of the history of Hammerfell and Yokuda. Authoraties on the subject of Redguard lore would seem to be Lady Nerevar, who we all know and love, and a poster who goes by the username "Sload".

Army List[edit]

Some idle musings on the army list. This is by no means complete or accurate.

TOMBAS OF HAMMERFELL

Three sub-factions:

  • Crowns (upperclass, tradionalist, isolationist, and anti-empire. Don't like the Forebears.) - "They consider themselves the "elite" troups of the rightful rulers of Hammerfell. They are traditionalistic and proud and classic in their ideas of loyalty and valor. Loyalty to your superiors, rulers and to your banner. They walk around in traditional (few exterior/Imperial influences), beautiful, yet functional outfits and take every chance to proclaim themselves, resulting in a lavish use of the crown emblems for decoration. Think of the Swiss Guard, only with less silly outfits." (More traditional Yoku troop options, but pretty much no ally options)
  • Forebears (lowerclass, cosmopolitan, and pro-empire, Don't like the Crowns.) - "The Forebear take their own people's needs above anything else. To ensure this, they know they have to be able to defend their lands and are thus more open to new "technology" and less traditionalistic. They are more pragmatic and less hooked on heraldry. They are also more open to common people, more eager to accept them into their ranks as long as they fulfill their duties." (More "professional army"-esque troop options, but few ally options)
  • Lhotunics(Political moderates, pro-emprie but also pro-autonomy) Political moderates. They wish to take advantage of the benefits of joining the Empire while still preserving their cultural identity. (least amount of troop options, but best ally options.)

Heroes:

  • Magistrate (Need to come up with a better name. Something that indicates political power, but does not necessarily imply wealth or noble birth, yet doesn't preclude those either)
    • Itei (Head of a sinos)
    • Utei (Head of an entire tomba)
  • Warrior-Prince ("Yokeda")
  • Ansei (Saint of the Sword)
    • Have access to a range of special sword techniques. Ex: when attacking, an Ansei may instead choose to halve their number of attacks but strike at S8.

Core:

  • Raga Soldiers
  • Impi
    • peltast-esque skirmisher type guys
    • Is a Zulu term, not Yoku. Name should be replaced if something better is found.
  • Alik'r Mercenaries
    • One can be upgraded to Dervish.
    • These are the guys that you meet in Skyrim.
  • Dunedweller Skirmishers (can take Camel mounts)
    • I'm somewhat hesitant to include the Dunedwellers, because their relationship with the Tombas is pretty much exactly the same as the the Ashlander's relationship with the Great Houses of Morrowind, which is to say that they don't much like each other. At all. Still, besides them, I don't really know any other type of Red Guard cavalry.
  • Dura Ungai Thugs

Elite:

  • Sword-singers
    • The Brothers of the Blade and Sisters of the Sword; these are the guys who train in the Halls of the Virtues of War.
  • Kogotong Assassins
    • Are a splinter group of the Morag Tong, so their stats can mostly be lifted from the Great Houses of Morrowind codex.
    • Are descrided as being very "ninja-like".
  • Hel Korei (Korei/Hel Koru/Koru? I think "Hel" might just be part of a title, and the whole ei/u noun distintion thing is confusing, as Yoku supposedly doesn't have plurals.)
    • heavily armored knight-esque dudes
  • Skaven Hyena Tamers

Support:

  • Metat
    • practitioners of Yoku-hi (Yokudan Magic).
    • Might be a good idea to find out what the hell Yoku-hi even does.
    • "Metat" is probably actually the wrong name
  • M’kai
    • practitioners of Dura-hi and Nudri-hi (dark magic and western magic respectively).
    • reviled throughout Hammerfell as deceivers, cowards, soul stealers, honorless scoundrels, and demon summoners.
    • "M’kai" is probably actually the wrong name
  • Sataks (Devotees of Satakal)
    • Known for their "terrible exhibitions of "shedding their skin"". Maybe give them Causes Fear, Feel No Pain, and something extra to represent their insanity?
  • Dunedweller Spirit Callers
    • Can summon Dessert Spirits

Special Characters:

  • Cyrus the Restless
  • King Lhotun, Reunifier of Hammerfell
  • Baron Volag and his personal 'blood-drinkers'
  • Order of Diagna
    • Have Preferred Enemy (Orcs)
  • Knights of the Scarab
    • Have Preferred Enemy (Dwemer Animunculi)
  • Mansalluh du-Gada (Knights of the Great Wave)
  • Mansalluh do-Tam (Knights of the Bird)
  • Baram du Lhotun (Lhotun's Guard)

  • Porcelain Half-Plate Armor (5+ Heavy)
  • Porcelain Plate Armor (4+ Heavy)
  • Serpentine Armor (3+ Heavy)
