The Populist Heresey is a universe where the Hersey is delayed by Ten Thousande Years, as The Emperor's Human Subjects rise up against the False Promises and obsolence offered by the Emperor and Malcador. In this world what few Space Marines remain are little more than pathetic bystanders in a world that has no use for them.

Premise[edit]
Set in the 40k universe where, for reasons known only to them, the Ruinous powers pull their strength and support from Horus Lupercal, leading to him lying dead by the hands of the Emperor. Following this very close call the Emperor sees the Primarchs as a mistake. The result is that the emperor decides to end his experiment with the primarchs, and unites all legions under him, eliminating all legions be they openly treacherous (Lorgar, Fulgrim, Angron, Mortarian), questionably loyal (El’Johnson, Alpharius, Magnus), not loyal enough (Gulliman, Vulcan, Khan, Corax). Ultimately leaving only Russ and Dorn, whose legions are reduced to private armies. Those Primarchs that survive scatter, forming their own factions on the fringes of the galaxy. Meanwhile in the 41st millennium, the empire has stagnated into a cold tyrannical regime under the iron fist of the Emperor and Malcador, who oversees the empire From the Golden throne. It is here that the true plan of Chaos is revealed, for while the Empire languishes in the cold kleptocratic materialism of the Emperor’s servants, the champions of the Ruinous Powers arise from the lowly guardsmen. Whether or not these Guardsmen succeed is unknown, but they represent Mankind's last gasp of freedom before being replaced by a humanity made in the Emperor's Image.
Parting Gifts of The Ruinous Powers[edit]
When they withdrew from their disappointing champions they left each one with some sort of curse to mark their disfavor with them, Note those who were never empowered with the dark gods in the first place (ie Perturabo, Curze) received no parting gift.
Magnus[edit]
Magnus received twofold “gifts” but one was, what one could call, a rebate.
- The Gift of “Pure Knowledge”
- Magnus’ connection to the Warp was completely severed, making all of Magnus’ knowledge of the warp one of complete abstraction. He was able to adapt however, and his transfer of master sorcerer to master blank proved invaluable when defeating the Dark Eldar, neutralizing untold numbers of incomprehensibly sophisticated eldar magicks.
- The Returned Gift
- Before the Horus Heresy, Magnus made a deal with Tzeentch to stop the defects of his Gene-seed from turning his sons into chaos-spawn, costing him his eye. When Tzeentch withdrew his support for Magnus, he also revoked this previous bargain. Magnus’ Eye returned but it, like his now worsening children was infected with the same transformative curse.
The combination of these two, ultimately led to the disaster of the Rubric of Ahriman, in which all weak-psykers (which now includes Magnus) were transformed to dust and left encased in their impenetrable armor. (given that magnus often doesn’t wear a helmet, a giant bright red crystal grew out of where his head used to reside
Mortarion[edit]
Angron[edit]
Angron received the Gift of Peace from Khorne. He was no longer capable of receiving pleasure from murder and his butcher's nails now left him numb. Additionally, his body was now completely void of andrenaline.
Fulgrim[edit]
- Slaanesh, given her dominion of the god of excess and pleasure took that with him. Fulgrim is completely incapable of experiencing any sensation.
- Additionally, Fulgrim twice a year has his body undergo a radical sex change. The process is rapid (about a week long) and incredibly painful, as he experiences extreme muscle spasms, bone changes, tumor-like organ growth within other organs, and body parts are expelled and grown leading to severe trauma. Fulgrim is lucid through this entire process, and is incapable of dulling the pain through any chemical means.
To make matters worse, each version of himself is something of a parody of the Male and Female form,
- Female Fulgrim is hyper-sensitive to all sensations and emotional stimuli, this undermines his primarch physiology, and as such becomes susceptible to alcohol and drugs (but not poison, as he unfortunately learned)
- Male Fulgrim has his all these senses dulled to all sensations. Food and Drink have little flavor
This process has driven Fulgrim to the point of insanity, second guessing his own opinions, and unable to find his own emotional state. while his brothers, Perturabo and Angron, begged Fulgrim to let them take care of him, he felt embarrassed to be in the presence of his legion, and ashamed of his own helplessness. With the Imperium still on the hunt for him, and left in a state incapable of finding regular work, let alone fighting and leading anything, he was forced to hide in the dregs of the hive city, eventually he was forced to destitution as a brothel slave to an undercity gang. Constantly kept on drugs except for his transformation, in which the mental anguish and despair is added to the constant pain.

Magnus (Trapped)[edit]
- Summary
- Ahriman’s attempt to cure Magnus of Tzeentch’s Curse resulted in Magnus becoming encased in his armor, while his body turned to dust. He is now known as the Rubrica, acting as a sort of analytical computer to Ahriman and the Leadership. The Thousand Sons have since split regarding this incident.
Vulcan (Incapacitated)[edit]
Between the Tortures endured at the hands of Konrad Curze (who escaped) and The Dark Eldar, the loss of his brothers Guliman and Magnus, Vulcan has been said to have gone mad.
Imperium of Man:[edit]
- Leader
- The Emperor
While weakened and required to remain on the Golden Throne (outside of major occasions and emergencies), the Emperor is still strong enough to govern his empire, as such Organizations such as the Ecclesiarchy, and the Space Marine Chapters are all but disbanded, instead relying on an administraiton created to enforce the Emperor’s will. Instead of Space marines, he instead uses Storm Sons who are genetically modified (but less so than Astartes) who marry among themselve and are loyal to him, ruling in his stead.
The Emperor himself, losing his only true friend, Malcador, to his traitorous sons, has become bitter and reclusive. In many ways the Emperor has modified his imperium to match the ideals of his late friend. The storm sons in particular are based upon his suggestion.
Factions[edit]
- Imperial Hounds (Formerly the Space Wolves)
- Imperial Fists
- Sisters of Silence
- Inquisition
- Imperial Knights Errant
- Custodes
- Comtes Imperitor (storm sons)
- a new breed of Genetically enhanced supersoldiers, this time created with the purpose of administrating the emperor’s will. They are created in male and female. Each sector has 2 or 3 rulers with Comtes returning to Terra following their term of rulership for part of the year. Their home is a massive wing of The Imperial Palace specifically left for them.
Unaligned Factions[edit]
Craftworld Prometheus[edit]

- Vulcan (Nominally, has gone insane),
- Khan
- Guliman (nominally, location unknown).
- Magnus (nominally, lacks free will).
Fleeing their father’s wrath for their lack of vigor (Guliman), folly (magnus), refusal to submit (khan), or heretical ideas (Vulkan's Promethean cult). The once loyal primarchs gathered who they could and fled to the outer reaches of the Imperium, following the kidnapping and Torturing of Vulcan by Curze, the other Primarchs found the Craftworld of Commorragh and annihilated all of the Dark Eldar living there. Khan has been left maintaining the Craftworld as Guliman was captured and presumed dead at the hands of the Emperor.

- Corvidae
- in our world are the blood Ravens, now entirely nomadic, stealing relics and raiding archaeological sites in the hopes of finding some arcane cure for their Primarch
Hybrid Chapters[edit]
Several Hybrid Chapters were created for the sake of preserving the geneseed of all chapters, prevent stagnant cultures, as well as create a symbol of unity of all chapters. These Chapters answer to the Craftworld Elect as a whole, not individual Primarchs.

The Alpha Legion[edit]
Made up of the Remnants of the Alpha Legion and headed by Corvus Corax (who has taken on the name of Alpharius), the independent faction works regularly with the other non-imperial factions gathering intelligence, and striking against the Imperium, as well as the forces of Chaos.
Dark Haunters[edit]
The remaining Dark Eldar join with the Nomadic forces of The Mad Konrad Curze, forming a group of Nomadic raiders who leave the galaxy petrified in terror. They will regularly camp on a planet, take all of its resources, have their way with the populace and leave the raped and tortured remains for whoever to find.
The Fallen[edit]
- Leaders
- Luther and Abbadon
Rejected by The Lion, Orphaned by Horus, abandoned by Chaos. The Fallen are forever on the Run from all factions who hate them, yet thanks to Abbadon’s genius, their legion is gaining strength.
Dominions of Angels[edit]
- Leaders
- Azrael, Celestine Sanguinor
Initially founded by the Dark Angels, after The Emperor deemed Lionel’s sluggish pace treacherous, they were later joined by the remains of the Blood Angels who were marked for execution once the Emperor learned the truth of the Black Rage (as well as what the Black Rage revealed to them about the Emperor's action).
The Unremembered[edit]
- Leaders
- Sevarus (officially, is incapable due to old age)
- Suzerain of Ultramar (Portia Sicarius)
Guliman was struck down by the emperor, yet his body was not found. And while the Realms of Ultramar bear no trace of his name, his stasis kept body is kept in secret by a faction of resistance who keep what scant memory of him alive for the past 5000 years. Apart from a few ancient leaders, The Unremembered are not space marines but instead are members of the Segmentum’s resistance who aspire to the memory of The Ultramarine, Lord of The Unremembered Empire.”

The Consumed[edit]
- Founder
- Angron
Formerly the World eaters, when he was abandoned by Khorne and saw the ruin around him, the stress of what happened caused his Butcher’s nails to break. Since then he and his legion have become suicidal pacifists. Damning themselves to die a thousand deaths as cowards before they can truly earn death. The Consumed do not fight (with one major exception) but instead act as apothecaries and humanitarian aid to all sentient life. They are regularly persecuted by the emperor as the Creed of Angron has swelled throughout the empire.
Death Seekers[edit]
Composed of some World Eaters, but mostly fleeing Death Guard and orphans from other legions, the Death seekers are those who are “not strong enough to die as Angron” did through pacifism (their words), and instead go to fight the Tyranids and only Tyranids. They are also willing to work side by side with other races in the name of fighting tyranids.
The God Bearers[edit]
- Founders
- Lorgar
Fleeing the Empire into Deep Space, Lorgar found his new God in the Form of the Tyranid hivemind. Lorgar has supplanted the Swarmlord for Hive Fleet Hydra, who now serve him as an incredibly powerful Genestealer Cult. Lorgar believes he will give birth to an all powerful being that will replace the Emperor as god of The Milky Way
The Children of Iron[edit]
- Founders
- Fulgrim (nominally) and Perturabo
Small but powerful, the two brothers pursue perfection in themselves, their men and their craft. Unlike the rest of the Traitorous primarchs who are nomadic, the Imperium knows exactly where The Cage Keepers are, they just can’t crack their impenetrable defense (especially since Dorn nearly died trying) Took in several Iron Hands as well, following the Emperor’s removal of them.
Students of Bile[edit]
Fabius Bile decided to go his own way and bringing some of the best and brightest apothecaries with him they travel the galaxy to research. Nominally associated with the Children of Iron, he also regularly does business with other chapters in need of preserving their Geneseed. The Alpha Legion in particular have been in regular need of his skills. There are Rumors that Logan Grimnar has been using the services of Bile so as to help cure or at least hide the issues with the Wulfen.

The Tau'Va[edit]
Origionally welcomming towards the millions of Human Refugees, The T'au have been so overwhelmed by the Human influx of refugees escaping the Emperor, they are a minority of their own State. A revolt of the Humans have also left them dispowered in their own state, as the Humans now carry on a parody of their own beliefs and institutions.
The Farsight Enclaves[edit]
The aptly named Farsight Enclaves broke away from the Tau'va out of disagreements with the Tau'Va government. Consequently they were spared the Tau's destruction at the hands of their migrant population.
