User talk:MercWithMouth/Kali Blades Marines
From 1d4chan
- Ostensible title: THE BEGINNING OF THE END or MANIFEST DESTINIES
- Captained by Jiyash Vishtayer
- Armor colors are reminiscent of Tau Battlesuit colors consisting of Yellow-gold, deep-red, and charcoal-black
- Chapter livery/symbol is reminicent of a 'Mata Hari Mask' but the eyes are shaped as to seem more angry or prepared to attack ... possibly reminiscent of the "upper mask" of the "SheRa" villain who had the super-power of being able to turn into some sort of cat.
- Their first adventure is to conquer Pavonis because of the extremely important resources that it contains...resources that can be used to combat Warp entities
- →specifically, the Nightbringer's long-slumber beneath the surface of Pavonis caused a type of 'dark matter' radiation to emanate throughout a good area of the planet's crust. What this did was cause the elemental properties of the deuterium-ore embedded in the planet (deuterium is a fairly inert substance that is abundant throughout the galaxy but which is a key part of plasma reactor construction) to mutate into new isotopes that could (theoretically) be used to make depleted-element shells which would be particularly effective against warp entities.
- The first chapter of their adventure consists of raiding a newly created and garrisoned Imperial scout-station (whether it is a station on the planet or in space remains to be determined). During the attack, one of the Kali Blades says something to the effect over his vox, "Then, if the Emperor wills it, we will proceed." The Station's lieutentant-commander overhears this and this confuses the lieutenant-commander, "Why would Space Marines attack an Imperium station? Moreover, if they are traitors, then why are they invoking the blessing of the Emperor?" When the battle is over, and the Kali Blades are preparing to leave, the lieutenant-commander shouts out to them, "You are warriors of the Emperor of Mankind. I heard you invoke his name-- praying for his favor! Why are you doing this?" To this, Jiyash Vishtayer turns and responds, "For the greater good."
- The Kali Blades, for ballistical fighting, use traditional bolters for tactical and closer-range fighting; and for longer-distance fighting, use energy-assault-rifles that pack more of a punch than Imperial lasguns, but contain less destruction than Tau plasma weaponry.
- For mêlée battle, the Kali blades use unique weaponry. They actually use one-handed shields (reminiscent of the ones used by warriors in South India, or for that matter, Lizardman from Soul Calibur 1.), and futuristic sword-like weapons that are reminiscent of falcatas. However, as far as their "futuristic nature" goes, they are not serrated chainsaw like weapons that are used by the Space Marines. Rather, they contain blades that are bluish, translucent, and crystal-like. When "energized", they glow with a brighter aura giving them the full damage-potential of chainswords, though still less than full-fledged lightsabers.
- They use their mêlée weapons in a martial arts style reminiscent of the sword-and-shield fighting tactics of that of warriors in South India, or for that matter, Lizardman from Soul Calibur 1.
- Though the same height as Space Marines, they are somewhat slimmer and considerably faster and agile -- as better suits their preferred fighting tactics. They are somewhat less durable or as strong as most Space Marines, though.
- The first chapter of the story is told mostly from the Imperial Guard's vantagepoint as they are overtaken by the Kali Blades in a surprise attack.
- The second chapter of the story centers on a "council of leadership" meeting amongst the heads of the Pavonis government and armed-forces to assess what might be the appropriate response to the incursion by the Kali Blades
- The third chapter of the story is told from the vantagepoint of the Kali Blades themselves, with narration providing some background as to the unique nature of the Space Marines that are composed of Guelsava and fight for the Tau Empire, and their next moves to takeover Pavonis and bring it into the Tau Empire
- To the extent that there are canon-conflicts (i.e., fighting on Pavonis, references to the previous two battles on Pavonis, fighting with an arrived Ultramarine company), the story is flexible enough that the setting and even some of the characters can be "edited" so that the same story can occur but with different places and setting elements...however, ideally, the story really should take place on Pavonis as allowing the events to be a "sequel" to the "Pavonis"-stories that were written by Graham McNeill would add an extra layer of appeal to the story
