hey bro? are you still writing because I'm back!
Sorry about the delay, I wasn't able to work on this anymore yesterday unfortunately. In any case, if you want to find a better place to talk, my B&C and Deviant art use the same username as here. Those might be better for more back and forth discussions.
Im still thinking about the combat system. Since the game we are basing off of is a Point and Click adventure game, Im thinking that combat could be heavily "Artifact" and Item based.
but i still want action and chance in battle i dont want it to be like: pc: i hit him with my sword! gm: he dies i want there to still be action
Sure makes sense. Currently working on a system that would be really easy for the GM to adhoc and make judgement calls.
I'm also trying to make the sensation system affect confrontations in a way that most characters still feel like they are out of their depth and in a horror setting.
However you could theoretically build a character that is able to act like a military hero in a video game, but you are sort of like Isaac Clark in Dead Space 2 and 3. Just a maddened neurotic hollowed out shell of the former man you were.
so i was thinking of a table for gms to use to generate dark world characters like a table of mix and match body parts determined with a d20 or something.
That sounds like a pretty good idea.
Alright, I think this is what I have so far. I think I was able to put up a core framework for everything, it probably needs to be statted and balanced once we have some objects and such. Let me know if there are some other systems I should be looking at.
hey you draw stuff for midhammer 40k right? couid you do some basic drawings of stuff like the artifacts and weapons and buildings and stuff like that (just sketches) for the hr giger homebrew? Savagereaper (talk) 02:20, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
So, yeah I do, but that's because I am the only one working on this fork, and Ive been teaching myself to draw in order to get the ideas out. Long story short, Im working on a fork of MidHammer, and im the only one who is, and I really do want to reach a semi-acceptable stopping point for it. So my drawing is not professional, and is coming out very slowly. So I would be willing to try , I just would ask for your patience on it. Im flattered you think i could draw in the style of HR Geiger though. ;)
I feel like what we really need is some way to access the Art from the dark seed games if anyone knows how. Im still trying to get a good idea of what the darkseed game is like, but man is that music bad. Really grating when im watching a long play.
Currently, my mind is wrestling with whether or not i should rework the mechanics ive written from the ground up, but i think what we really need is to get enough that we can actually run a test of the game. From there we can work on art and stuff.--Wammnebu (talk) 04:42, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
how will we test it? do you have a group you can test it with?
i have a few screenshots and i have multiple copies of the game files on my compute so i can directly access the graphics on my computer i think? and i also have som giger pics somewhere on my hard drive too. Savagereaper (talk) 05:52, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
the stats on the weapons in the weapons section are temporary couid you fix them later when you can findthe time? also you know how in terminator 2 the t-1000 can turn its body into a weapon like a blade? we shouid have something like that! ill add it right now! Savagereaper (talk) 06:05, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
I added a draft of a Biomechanoid turret, let me know what you think.
hey here is another idea you know hat i said about the t-1000 sword arm idea? well i wouid love to see another drawing of a thing wouid you do it?
uploaded my design for the biomechanical sword. I took some liberties with the design, in the hopes that it matches. It doesnt look like the t1000 sword, but it does look like a sword that you affix to your body. Let me know what you think. I also tried to clean up the turret image, let me know which one you prefer.
And i watched the Darkseed 1 longplay. Was suprised by how bland and workmanlike the dialogue was. any major take aways i should have noticed? Ill let you when i watch 2.
So if I could offer a suggestion, since you are organizing the project. Ill see what I can do about the rifle, but I dont really understand the logic. Why these three images? If we have an image of the turret sword and rifle, what do we have besides three weapons. Why a weapon instead of say a healing objects, sample character or a drakketh guard? Also why the images rather than continue on the rules?
I think one thing that would help give this project some guidance and vision would be if you took the time to figure out what the "minimum viable product" is. When do we have enough to say someone can run a game in this setting. What systems need to be in place, what roles, what items do we ,need a sample campaign? Do we need little fiction stories? From there outline the vital pieces and separate them from the wishlist. Things that would be cool to have but not part of the project for viability.
For instance I have been doing this for medhammer you might want to do something like this on the setting discussion page. It could help newcomers to the project get an idea on how they can contribute to the project. It also would give us an idea of the status of the project. Just a suggestion though, let me know what you think. --Wammnebu (talk) 19:41, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
i wouid like a picture of the characters and the items too perhaps we shouid do that i see where you are coming from on that. i wouid also like some stories to go along with the setting.
you were right about the bad music it is shit but speaking of music have you ever listened to bolt thrower? they once had a deal with games workshop to make warhammer music and they are GOOD first listen to realm of chaos (its on youtube [here|https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlTMjXMK3dc] because that is the 40k one and it is awesome (skip past the intro and listen to the first track: eternal war) Savagereaper (talk) 22:05, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
hey, so Im probably going to be swamped with my own work projects for most of this week, ill try to make some more sketches, but i cant promise that ill finish anything this weekend. Ill check back in to the website over the weekend. In the meantime, i guess if you want to keep working on building up the lore, or adding more characters or classes, weapons, anything that will help us less familiar with the lore get a better grasp of the universe. talk again soon. --Wammnebu (talk) 07:11, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
hey so a few nights ago me and my bro played a session of pokemon tabletop united (it was his idea) and then we played kill team afterward and it was the orks (me) vs the death guard (him) and it hit me: pokemon in warhammer 40000! and after a night of experimentation and brainstorming (and he drew a sketch) i am proud to present to you: warhammer 40000 for pokemon tabletop united! this will be the next major project after we get the hr giger ball rolling and keep adding new content to it (the benchmark for getting the ball rolling is having enugh fluff and rules for a test session of the game) Savagereaper (talk) 23:02, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
How does that work is it an in universe pokemon? or a mishmash? If you want to send me more details im intrigued. My impression is that warhammer pokemon is a bunch of orks collecting squigs and various fauna and gettin dem inta a propa foight wit da otha
As far as HR Giger/My own project goes
- Im brainstorming a way to do the background, im flirting with the idea of giving players a "deck of cards" with back stories, but that might be weird
- Im working on another sketch for the project, but its a more complicated image
- Im trying to fix the origional turret, because the color scheme for it bothers me
- Do you have any images of Drekketh Guards and their weapons?
- If you have any interest, i would love some feed back on short stories i wrote for my own project.
- debating abandoning MedHammer, seems like ive put a lot of work into this for nothing.
well the pokeymans wouid be transplanted into 40k like for example a rotoms are held in high esteem with the adeptus mechanicus because they think they are literal machine spirits. (that was a good idea) and for the giger project: well there isnt many images of the guards in the games and they arent exacly combat ready but i thought up one and i just want you to use my description as a inspiration for a guard pic and for your midhammer: sure i will read some of your stories, from what ive seen from what you've written here i bet they're good. and didi you watch the darkseed II longplay?
i made the page and wrote the introduction. here is the link to the page Setting:Warhammer 40,000 for pokemon tabletop united now we can start kinda working on this beast. i cant wait for the first real sketch to be finished tonight then maybe i can upload it. Savagereaper (talk) 22:09, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
hey wammnebu we shouid have a picture of the slave biomechanioid. i imagine the slave biomechanoids as servitors from 40k but with the skull of megadeth's vic rattlehead for the extra giger influence. how does that sound? Savagereaper (talk) 20:42, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
hey! i just wanted to check in with you are you feeling good? have you finished a sketch or two? im kinda going mental. take that how you will. (oh teh lulz) Savagereaper (talk) 21:20, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
so it wasn't really a sketch so much as a drawing, i added it to the page. I dont think i will be able to work on this as quickly, as there are a lot of things going on right now. i saw your thing about the biomechanoids, and they seem like the they are the bullets from that one giger painting.--Wammnebu (talk) 04:48, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
you picture of the mirror reflecting the dark and light worlds is amazing! this is really going somewhere! Savagereaper (talk) 05:55, 10 July 2020 (UTC) yeah! glad to have you back! im going to look at the drawing and other things and I had an idea where the bullets from all the dark world are the bullet-babies from the birth machine just in varying calibers Savagereaper (talk) 05:19, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
What's the birth machine? I don't think I saw that in the Longplay. I think you could do it two ways. Given how much of HR Giger's art has this "procreative" and erotic nature to it, I was under the impression that the bullets of the biomechanoid weapons were effectively "the children" made from the union of user and gun. So they would take something out of the user, what that is, im still not sure yet, maybe something about the background could have an impact. We could do the birth machine thing too, i guess have "ammo clips you salvage from drekketh guards" but that might just turn the bioweapons into regular weapons with another name. The Birth Machine could be "the factory" whose children are the weapons and technologies, maybe the new "suitor" of the birth machine determines what is created, so when The Ancient Ones conquered the Dark World, they reappropriated the birth machine for the creation of their weapons.--Wammnebu (talk) 16:22, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
I added the bit about the birth machine, as a bit of "Lore" to the Universe. Since it desperately needs some. I have a painting in the works, should i just upload the unfinished one or wait till i finish it?
wait to finish it, I want it to look nice.
